Where can I get a resonator?
Monday, October 31, 2005 9:51 AM
Everyone is saying that they have/recommend a 'Magnapack Resonator', but I can't for the life of me find this part on Magnaflow's website or any of their official online stores! Why is this part so elusive?

Could someone link me to a good quality 2.25" resonator for my 2004 Ecotec? I just can't seem to find it..

Thanks!

Matt

Wow, $23.99 USD? That's only like 28ish cnd, and that's pretty damn cheap..

Are these on par with Magnaflow's offerings, all bias aside?

Thanks!

Ok, JerseyKid, one more question for you:

I'd like to buy a Magnaflow muffler from the same site, Jegs, because the shipping cost is the same for 1 item as it is for 2 items.

Anyway, i have an 04 Ecotec (Sunfire), and I'm wondering what the difference is between aluminum/stainless steel?

Also, what about the in/out offset? Some are middle/middle, some are left/right, etc.

I'm going for whatever sounds most deep/aggressive, and I don't care about the look (aluminum, etc.)

Thanks,

Matt.

Stainless steel will not rust, thats the difference.

And as for my earlier question.. does it matter if the in/out of the oval exhaust is center/center or left/right displaced? Do all magnaflow mufflers (universals) sound just as deep?

Well i got you covered once again my friend! haha.

Here is an exhaust clip with that resonator with a Magnaflow oval on MY 04 Eco with an intake.

Click for PurpleHornie / Magnaflow

Here is a picture of the muffler i had so you can get an idea, it was 2.5'' in and out , and was very deep. I got alot of compliments.

I hope i helped you out some.

Fantastic! Alright, so you got the oval stainless steel magnaflow it looks like, with middle in/out.

Sounds great, had to put on crappy headphones at work to hear it, so I was missing the bass, but I can tell it's mean sounding. Not too ricey and distasteful, it sounds mean and not fake at all. Well I'm sold

One more question before I place my order on that Jegs site:

I'm going to order a generic middle/middle 2.25" in/out magnaflow muffler ( part number 642-14315 on Jegs), the purple hornie resonator you linked me to, and a magnaflow hi-flow cat.

On the Jegs, site, is the Cat with part number 642-94315 decent? It's a magnaflow 2.25" in/out 'hi-flo performance' cat with 'air tube', whatever that means. Could you tell me if this part is fine, or should I go for the one with out the 'air tube'? (Or is there a better hi-flo cat for my needs?)

Thanks a bunch dude! You're really helping me out here.

Oh, and I did go through with placing an order with your friend Bryan at DefinedParts (weapon-r header), but it was on back order so i had my money returned.

Can anyone vouch for what Matt is saying?

Is Magnaflow cat 94035 truly a good performance 'hi-flow' cat, and is it better than the one (94315) I referenced two posts ago? They both seem to be 2.25" oval cats with an air tube, not too sure where the difference lies.

Anyone? I'm making a purchase immediately based on this info, I'd appreciate someone with cat knowledge to give me a hand identifying the superior cat here.

Thanks!

94305 is really all you need unless you need a different number for the inlet outlet size...

theres no such thing as a superior cat,. pick a quality company and stick with it. simple as that. dont be like some and make it complicated.

Event is right , the two main companies that sell high flow cats ( that ive heard alot about ) are Catco and Magnaflow. There pretty much the same thing , and its just your choice.

that isnt entirely true

it really depends on the grade of stainless , and either way it will rust just a life time to do it

For sure jerseykid, i'll definately post pics. Last night I placed an order for the resonator you suggested, as well as a 2.25" oval stainless steel magnaflow muffler. 'The Other Matt' may be making me an offer for his MagnaFlow cat, and, if not, I'll simply order it along with my Header. I was going to order it from Turbo Tech, but he isn't answering my emails, so I may have to get it from Gravana.

Does anyone have any experience with Gravana's shipping? I'm reluctant to order from them because their shipping charges are 'TBD', even at the point where I enter in my credit card information (I live in Canada). So I'm not too sure what that's all about!

Also, is this cat any good? They don't even specify the in/out size, or even its MagnaFlow part#!

Thanks!

Haha.. let's pretend I wasn't an idiot and saw that they do, in fact, mention the in/out size. 2.25", just what I needed.

But yeah, how's Gravana's shipping time?
Re: Where can I get a resonator?

gravanas shipping time is pretty good... ill stop by the ups store today after work and check on shipping to canada from colorado... im sure it wont be cheap

Re: Where can I get a resonator?

Then perhaps it's not worth it. Throwing in the 75$ cat from Gravana won't cost me any more shipping along with the Header I'll be ordering from there, and it sounds like the shipping it would cost you might easily make up the difference between your price and Gravana's 75$..

I used a Cherry Bomb glass pack from Pep Boy's worked really well as well. Made a huge difference. I need to take a picture of my exhaust. I have a 29" resonator and i like it. Really a matter of choice if you want to go with magnaflow.

Already purchased my muffler and resonator, thanks. Just the cat and header left, though I'm worried that Gravana won't even get to my order for another week, what with them gone to that show and all.
