quick question is a cold air intake really getting any colder air into the motor over a warm air intake if both are metal piping would the piping on the cold air intake keep the air the same temp as what it comes in at or is it going to be the same temp when it enters the motor as the warm air intake my question basically is would it not be better to go with one that has abs plastic piping over metal piping seeing as the abs would disperse the heat better over the metal
thats what I was thinking but alot of people on here are always cold air intake this and that but I have always thought they were the same if not worse that the warm air intakes better off just saving the money from the difference between the two and put that money else where
so what if you route it where the stock air box draws from?

i read once that certain cars get better performance from one type or the other, (according to AEM's website), thus why they make one type more dominate than the other (ie the SRI for the 2.4L, and a CAI for the ECOTEC), according to them, they engineer the intakes for optimum performance gains....

I think a Cold Air Intake should be renamed: Fresh Air Intake.
A fresh air intake might produce cooler air temps, but the draw distance is quite a bit longer then a WAI.
A WAI might take air from inside the engine compartment, which is slightly warmer off the engine, but since the draw distance is shorter, it will travel to the TB faster.
So, If you want the best throttle response, go with the WAI (Short Air Intake), or if you think the cooler fresh air will provide more HP, go with the CAI (Long Air Intake), or as I think it should be called Fresh Air Intake.
Not sure if this helps anyone, but it has been discussed several times in the past.
I have tested both WAI and CAI (both custom crafted with the same cone filter), I have found I like the quick response of the Shorter intake.
