i was just wondering if you had to do any mods to the intake to make it fit or douse it just bolt on do i just take the old intake manifold off and put the 2.3l ho intake on and is the gaskit the same for both motors if any one has good instructions on how to install this please help
I bought a 2.3 HO Intake Manifold off Karo a couple years ago and we actually just installed it 2 days ago. So far we had to put some more material around the throttle body flange so we could still use the 2.4L Throttle Body. We made a EGR Block off Plate. The AEM short ram actually fits almost perfect on the car with the new intake manifold and the filter ends up right behind the front bumper. You'll have to re-route your throttle cable. I do not believe any of the stock gaskets will work. We're just going to use silicone.
try www.ny-jbodies.org click on library and scroll down till you see ho manifold swap.
that should answer most of your questions.
Hey CNFX>vbz, I wouldnt recommend just using silicone in place of a gasket. It is very possible that the silicone will eventually break up and enter the engine which will clog up your oil. I had the same idea but was told this from experience. Just a heads up.
just use the 2.3 gaskets. go buy yourself a few they work wonders,
you need to get an adaptor flange so that the port will match or you can match it using a dremel. way easier with the flange. Chris Fontana has probable some left for 55$.
with the flange, you will need 2x 2.3 gasket and modified the hole on both of them the same way as on the manifold.
Also you need to drill the 2 of center holes a little higher for it to fit.
and use the 2.3 tb with 2.3 sensor. it is bigger than the 2.4!!
i had an HO manifold on my car before. it was modified by todd miller.
he port matched the manifold to correctly match a 2.4L head. including building up along the bottom to make up for the difference. also had the TB flange cut off and rewelded on so i could use stock 2.4 throttle body with no cable problems.
heres what it looked like when all said and done. took lots of man hours and didnt require the adapter. as u can see the holes must be modified too.
then i simply made my own gaskets for TB and manifol/head.

you need two gaskets when using the adapter flange?
yup, 1 between the head and the flange, and another one between the flange and the manifold!
