from '98 to '02 the 2200 engine is all the same. The EGR thing you are thinking about is for the 2.4 DOHC engine.

not true, the 98 had an EGR valve that was removed in 99

can i still use the head and just put a plate over the egr port? will everything run the same ?

98 head has a diff. casting number from the 99+, It has an EGR and 10mm rocker studs (not that thats a big deal) the 99+ have 8mm.

the 98 head should go onto any 2200 block just fine, The diff in the base size of the rockers make no diff in anything at all cept if you deside to get some aftermarker rockers then you would need to know if you needed 10mm or 8mm based studs. so recap...
98 head has 10mm rocker studs
99+ head has 8mm.

Daniel I sent you my zip bud . Let me know so I can pay ya asap.

Well I will have to check tomorrow I will do that and get back to you. Also I might have found someone locally that will grind cams for 100 bucks. It may be too good to be true but I am going to check into it..

For the EGR all you have to do is bolt the block off plate onto your new head from your old head, and you might want to get a new gasket.

Are to talking about making a blockoff plate, I have not seen a 99+ 2200 head with one as they are diff casting numbers so i assumed they never even put anything egr related on them.

Phlatcav:
When I built my 2200 I bought a spare '98 engine, then when it came time to do the swap I just unbolted the three bolt plate from the back of my '99 head, and bolted it right onto the '98 head

I'll see if i can find you a pic l8r
