ground wires and underdrive pulley

im looking at getting a crank pulley for me eco and i've heard that the underdrive pulley will make my lights dim more than they already do. do you guys think that a ground wire set up would eliminate that. if anyone has this set up please let me know how you like it.

ps does anyone know what is up with staticxmotorsports.com i tried to order a ground kit a month ago and i've paid for it but it has not been shipped and now they are not responding to my emails? thanks for any help

I think a grounding kit will help, but not solve the problem just for the simple fact that your alt is not making the same amount of power that it normally would when at idle.

As far as static X, they basically dissipeared shortly after the GP they ran died down. I personally say make your own grounding kit, or get one from Ebay for $22 shiped

ground kit will help, having a ground stablizer, and stereo capasitors will also help, a deep cycle battery, or a red top.

but what you should really do is get a altenator with a higher amprage rating, even tho it wont be producing the aprage it is rated for because it isn't spinning as fast it will produce more power than your stock one.

i see 180 amp altenators all the time on ebay. the stock one in cav's is 105amps

my personal opinion is get a lightened crank pulley and a lighted altenator pulley from www.rsmracing.com it will total you 260 bucks.

the simple fact is ever 2.7 pounds of rotaing mass you take out of the engine, you will recover 1hp, and a little under 1pound of torque. i beleive the rsm crank pulley is 12.5oz's, that is less than one pound. the stock one i had on my old cav was like 3-4 pounds.

but the nice thing is you wont have to worry about everything else that is driven by the crank pulley becuase the rsm pulley is stock size

as for the altenator pulley they have, it is also a lightened pulley of a stock size. all tho i am not sure of the weight differances there. but if the crank is 12oz, i would gues the alt pulley is something like 3-4oz. very light and easy to turn

in two weeks i will be ordering both for my z24.

it will go nice with the quad 4 cams, and the upper and lower poly mounts

isn't the whole idea behind lightened crank pulley to make your car rev faster?

StaticXMotorsports just sent me a refund after about 2 months of emailing them. For some reason, they can't or didn't process a lot of the orders a few months back??

I have the RKSport one and I wanted the grounding kit myself to stop the lights from dying out but guess I'll have to go on eBay or something to find one. StaticX should email you back too, just trying to sort through all their orders I think??

Eh...old man with a Corvette now...it was bound to happen sooner rather than later right?

Dan you can make your own kit using the same wires as static X

Go here: http://www.knukonceptz.com/

Under porducts look up power wire.
Its the 4 gauge.
Pick a color.
Get some of their gold plated terminals and you're of to making your own goround kit.
Just like I did.
And much cheaper.

I also, made a 4 gauge altenator wire.
Picked the red casing, both the allen wrench terminal pair and hooked it up.

For me, the grounding kit didn't really do much except for looks.
But upping the thickness grade of the altenator wire to the 4 gauge helps A LOT.
It was even recommended to me by the person selling on ebay and some retail high amp altenator seling place. Wanting $500 for a 180 amper.
Yeah right.

Have fun,
-M
