Running rich with Ecotec Performance Cams

Buddy of mine just installed the GM performance cams in his Ecotec. Now it is setting a check engine light for fuel trim rich. Anyone run into this and have a solution? It has no power until about 4000rpm and then it kicks in like a bastard.

thats typical of the cam upgrades they dont run right without some fuel and ecu tuning

so you guys bought the GM racing cams without doing any research obviously. those cams are designed for RACE USE ONLY. the lift and duration is way too high for a stock motor and OBD2 ECU programming. congradulations on wasting a bunch of money. i hope you will do at least a little research in the future.

Actually, it does not. It says that they should work and be obd2 compliant.

not the GM Racing cams. unless GM came out with another crappy set of cams that they are trying to claim will work. GM knows they made the Ecotec ECU too smart and that they should fix it but they wont. oh well. just screws them too along with us

GM only makes 1 set of raceing cams for the ECO and they are full on race cams. He should have figured that out. But beside that I find it interesting that he even got them at all, Being that when you try and order them they are ship direct parts and the source hasn't had any in stock since the hi perf. book even came out. I work for GM also and I've kept checking on these and there never in stock at the manufacturer so how did he
get them??????

I don't feel bad at all. There are at least 18 million posts (ok, i exagerated a little) about this though. It's like the guy around here who had a built WRX and blew it up because he didn't know what he was doing and put the head gasket in wrong---starving the one cam of any oil.

People's ignorance never ceases to amaze me.

Don't know but I just checked again and the recording says that the part is not availible.
Did he buy part #88958648 ? Cuase according to Dealerworld they don't exist outside of the performance parts book.

I'm not trying to come off like a dick. I would just LOVE to know how he got them when apparently noone else has been able to. I think maybe your buddies b.s.in you.

He ordered the ones from the parts list in the handbook. Not the blanks. right now he is swapping the stock exhaust cam back in to see if it fixes the running rich problem.

Those are the cams I listed above and they're not avaible. Hes B.S.in you dude! He doesn't have any cams! Thats why hes putting the stock ones back, cause they're all he has. Go ahead call dealer world and see what they say about the cams and you'll see why I'm saying this.

I'd love to know where they came from. Call dealerworld and see what it says when you try to find out about these cams. I'm not saying your lyin but according to G.M. these cams can't be got

Just call dealerworld and see what they say thats also i was told when i called G.M. and talked to the performance parts division. How long did it take for him to get them?

Somethings fishy here. It may not be you guys but somethings not right.

It took about a week to get them. The parts guy at our work usually deals with ordering performance parts and such.

Hypsy, I wasn't gonna go that far. But somethings certainly odd. I've been trying to get my hands on those cams for 2 years now and I'm always told they can't be gotten.

Whole thing just seems strange to me thats all. I'm not calling anyone a lyer but somethings just not right here. You know 2+2=32 just doesn't sound right to me.
