i see lots of people change or mod. there t/b does it really make that big of difference? I have an intake and i noticed a change. will it make a bigger difference than the intake. also what is stock on a 2200 99' just curious.
what is stock? what is stock what? I installed a bigger throttle body...it shifts your powerband to the upper rpms more...so you have more pull top end. i noticed a difference...i also have aem intake with header back exhaust though and some other mods
also the search option at the top right works wonders...most of the questions that are asked have been asked before so just try that first
stock size in milimeters, no reason to be an a$$.
I'm not sure how these engines respond cuz I'm new to the Cavalier myself, but from experience with this mod in other platforms, it helps more in the upper power band, but it has even more of an impact when coupled with other mods like manifold, injectors, exhaust, etc. It lets more air into the manifold, which is good, however, it tends to lower intake velocity slightly, which lowers low end response a little bit. Drag racers tend to see the biggest benefit because they spend most of their time in the upper end of the power band anyway. Again, this is my experience with other engines, but it's pretty uniform across the spectrum.
there's no point in getting a larger throttle body unless you have a heavy N/A build or forced induction. period.
I was a retard, and now I'm permanently banned.
/\ /\ /\ What he said. Event explained why in another post but it basicly comes down to
the fact that your engine can only draw in so much air and beyond that is just a waste.
Semper Fi SAINT. May you rest in peace.
Mine was a 10mm jump in size and I noticed a big difference. Definitly worth the $$.
I just used the 56mm on the manifold that I put on my cavalier. feels fine to me. but that's probably as big as you should go on a stock engine, doesn't help any if you can't move that air.

hey toolbag, when you don't ask a specific question and only say...also what is stock on a 2200 99' just curious. doesn't say what is stock throttle body size. No need to be a cocky fuk to someone who gave your their input.
so much maturity in this thread...
just let it go guys no need to be all pissy towards each other.
and to answer one of your questions, I feel a difference when I changed my TB to the one from a 2.3L. I don't know exact horsepower gain because I've never dynoed the TB and I doubt many people have.
it's up to you whether or not you wanna move your powerband. you lose some of your lowend as said but get a little bit more high end, the choice is yours. We have armed you with knowledge and now it's up to you to make a decision. do you think it's worth it? What are your plans for the future?
I have forced induction in my future so I'm gonna get myself ready for that and when the time comes it'll be all set. It really depends on where you wanna go with your car and how much you're willing to sacrifice to get there.
