i wanna do an all motor 1999 z24, i was wondering what is the highest and safest compression i can go with and what would be the difference if i were to bore it 20 over, like power and gas mileage?????
Also is it true that u can take a 2.3 block and take your stock 2.4 crank and place it in ur 2.3 block and make it a 2.5????? what is the power gains with this and everything..??????
Thanks alot for your help
i wouldn't go over 10.5:1 compression, from my understanding the PCM won't understand too much over that. Now, boring .20 over would be about the max I would go
I was a retard, and now I'm permanently banned.
Do you mean 0.020 over or actually 0.20 over? For the bore that is.
You can go up to .040 over without ANY problems.
As for the 2.5L engine, it's alot harder than you think. You need to modify the Mains and the block, get customs pistons and bunch of other small things that I won't say.
compression? 15:1 is safe. Tunning is what make it safe. The Ecm doesn't see compression, it see knock that come from high compression when it's not well tune.
you can run 20:1 compression with the stock ecm and not have any problem.

Agreed!
You can go .040 over with no problems, my motor is proof.
As fas as compression goes, you should be bale to go 10.5:1 or maybe even 11:1 on 93 octane gas without pulling timing but don't quote me on that.

11:1 on the LD9 with 93 octane is safe. 11.5:1 on a 2.3 with 93 octane.
