whats the 1/4?
ohh i dont know i went to the 1/8 its what we go for over here in my town.
your 60 foot time can use an improvment. most can do 2.2 that will cut your time down by about .1 to .2 seconds.
its not a bad time. jsut keep practicing

Im a Xbox 360 fanboy...and damn proud of it!!
yeah just keep practicing. you should be running 9's with the mod's that you listed.

wow 9.5 nice. are you running an auto ? i feel really bad now with my numbers....

can you check for me when im in P or N and i step on it when it hits four grand it doesnt make a noise completely silent . ohh and how is your exhuast set up ? thanks
nah i have a five speed so i guess that makes a big difference. with my 5 speed depending on track conditions i launch at anywhere between 2 grand to 3500, but thats depending on track condition and how much psi i have in my front tires. i never really have driven an automatic, but my friend did have an auto 5.0 stang and he would either rev up in neutral an slam into L1 or he'd have it on L1 and he would smash the brake down real good and rev up like that, this is called brake torqueing. as far as my exhaust set up, it ain't even a cat back. i went with the flowmaster super-40 series. i'm not straight piped or anything like that but i don't have a catalytic converter on my system. my system is basically your regular s!@# except i went with a domestic sound rather than an import sounding system. my muffler and exhaust pipe is 2.25 all the way. for real though i'm getting ready to scrap it and go with a magnaflow or borrla catback. also when it comes to the catalytic converter don't get it cut off get a high-flow cat. trust me i know from experience high-flow is better than no cat.

dont do that. thats called nutral drop. its bad, very bad on your tranny.
tourqe braking is when you are at the line. you step on the brake and gas at the same time, then when light turns green you lift your foot off of the brake and smash the gas

hurrmmmmm ok . i looked under my car and my cat is turning Bronze .. hurmmm is it soposed to do that or is it F'ed up ?
fernando, what do you mean by domestic sound? i want our 2.4 sunfire to sound good... not like an import. is this possible? on exhaustsoundclips.com there are clips of a flowmaster 80 series on a 2.4 and it sounds awesome if its the right clip lol, it sounds almost like a v8.. can i get a sound like i want instead of the annoying import "burrrrmmm. burrrrmm" sound if you know what i mean?
that's what i mean when i say a domestic sound. when i say that i mean that rumble that you hear from all the v8's. i went for that sound that you hear on all those firebird's, mustangs, and camaro's. The domestic sound ,the American rumble.

you won't pull it off with an LD9 if that is what you are asking. want a rumble? buy a pushrod motor, small block chevy and cam it.
I was a retard, and now I'm permanently banned.
i have one of those in my vette. can i get that "domestic" american rumble sound with the cat on? i dont want it loud like a straight piped v8 or even like a v8 with 40's on it , but if i put 40 series on it will it have the domestic or import sound? and whats the deal with people putting 80 series mufflers on it? basicly what i want is the muffler that will make it sound the most like a v8..
thanks
can someone go to importsoundclips.com and listen to the 1999 2.4 grand am gt with 80 series flowmasters on it and tell me if that sound is possible on a 2.4 i sware it sounds much bigger
each car is different. what my sound good on my car might sound better on yours or worse

It's wrong... that Flowmaster 80 is on a V6... look at the name of the actual file.
I've NEVER heard a 4 banger that sounds good.. like a V6 or V8
yeah me neither, i knew that file was wrong.... so i cannot have any kind of rumble sound on this 2.4? just the import "burrrrrrrr" i guess
i have the dynomax super turbo's on my 81 vette 5.7. They are relatively quiet and pretty much a constant deep tone. i heard some clips of the superturbos on 4 cylinders and i think i'll go with them again so ill just be making the car a little louder without an annoying "import" sound...
hey lenko listen to the clip titled
"Flowmaster 40 series Delta"
Flowmaster 40 series Delta - 2003 Spectra
on exhaustsoundclips.com.
it says its a 4 cylinder. does it sound right ? if so that seems to be the best sounding muffler for a 4 banger
I have a custom cat back on my 01' Z-24 and it does not sound like an import. I don't know about a V8 but people always ask if it is a V6. It is 2.25" piping with a duel 2.5" or 3" tip muffler. I don't know who makes it, it says wicked on the tips, I just chose it off a shelf. I did this cause the RK sport cat-back was back ordered 3-4 weeks! I cant wait that long

If some one wants to explain how i will take an audio clip and upload it.

If that's a Kia Spectra... i WANT A KIA... ha ha... not...
i used to have a Flowmaster 40 series on the old BFZ... it sounded ok down low, but it was WAY too loud and sounded like ass at high rpms.. mind you, that was on an auto...
I think I'm going 60 or 80 series... IF i stick with Flowmaster. I've heard walker exhausts are nice and subtle...
shawn that would be great if you could upload a clip, i hope you can find out how...
we dont drive the #$%^ out of the car. it rarley goes over 2,500 rpm. ( gets 34 mpg around town driving it easy lol) so im not too worried about how loud it gets at a super high rpm. im sure thats normall.
see if you can get under there Shawn and see what muffler is on there
i just want to choose a muffler that sounds the least like a import. What are my best choices
and another Q, i havent looked under there in about a year, do the mufflers clamp on/off? i got lucky the ones on my vette did. took like 30 min's to put the superturbos on

x2
Nothing you do will make a 4 banger sound like a V8 (or sound good for that matter), and IMO ALL 4 bangers sound pretty much the same (import and domestic) - how exactly can you get yours to make a "domestic" sound" when our cars sound no different than hondas, eclipses etc? Just about all I've driven in are so loud inside that you can't hear the radio (and vibrates the @#$! out of the whole car), and they universally sound like lawnmowers, small garden tractors or oversized bumblebees. If you want V8 sound, buy a V8.

also, if you haven't added urethan mounts yet, do it. That has made the biggest improvement for me so far, and i'm just running intake and mounts, ran a 9 second 1/8th.
