Actually, I did some research and found that you're incorrect.
First, the 2.2L Version in Europe and America are the same but I believe inside the actual engine bay, they face the opposite way.
www.gm.com wrote:The current 2.2L of the Ecotec is available in the following vehicles:
Chevy - Cobalt, Malibu and Cavalier
Pontiac - Grand Am and Sunfire
Saturn - L-Series, Ion and Vue
Opel/Vauxhall - Vectra, Zafira and Speedster
http://www.gm.com/automotive/gmpowertrain/events/racing/
Second, The Vauxhall VX with the 2.2L, yes has over 200 HP (240 HP and 305Nm of Torque) but it is supercharged.
www.autointell-news.com wrote:Under the long bonnet of the VX Lightning is a new version of Vauxhall's all aluminium 2.2 ECOTEC engine, reworked with a supercharger to produce a maximum power of 240hp and 305Nm of torque.

Hope this comes out useful and this has educated some of you (as it has me).

...just checked out the pics. looks like a great perferming car, but i do not like the styling. at all.

But, diff strokes for diff folks. i was expecting a 3rd gen looking car. the vauxhall reminded me of the earlier model jettas.

better engines goffy designs gotta figure too a larger 4 clylender in euroupe is in the same standing as a v6 is here cause of the gas princes over there but i beleave the european rpo is L850 and the US is L61. a buddy of mine boughtt opel cams and they fit but they throw codes like crazy unless you tune the engine stil the us made ecu's are senastive as @!#$
I think i can answer this one, since i have a vx220!
The 2.2 ecotec in my car (there are two main versions of the vx220, one with the 2.2 and one 2.0 turbocharged), is very similar to the US 2.2 ecotec. The differences are that it has fly by wire throttle and a different ECU.
The 2.0 turbo vx220 has a totally different engine called the ZLET which is cast iron (rather than all alloy) and quite an old design.
Cheers, Paul.

the eco power was the old design , and eco tec is the newer design , and they do not look alike
Here is what the ZLET looks like in the vx:

So that proves my statement earlier to be correct.

so than wil a gasket kit from the vuaxhall ecotec work on the american ecotec?

Why are you trying to get a gasket set for an vauxhall ecotec anyways?
If you want a brand new one, you can easily get one from GM (stock or the copper head gasket set) or you can get one through Cometic.
