If I buy a 2L ecotec will it bolt up to my car with out any modification? will my alternator and all the other junk work with it
Well your alternator wouldn't be the biggest thing you need to worry about. You would need to mostly worry about swapping out the computer.
Honestly, I noticed you have the 2.2L ECOTEC, there is no reason why you would honestly want to go from the 2.2 L to the 2.0 L besides that it has a supercharger on it. If you really want a supercharger, you can take one off an Cobalt or Redline and make it fit onto your current motor for much less money and you'll gain more power because of:
1. Higher Compression than the 2.0 (You have 10:1, that one has 9:1)
2. Bigger Displacement. The result of bigger displacement will be more torque.
All in all, keep your motor and boost it...it's worth the money and you'll gain more power.

I think he's looking at the lower compression and forged bottom end as the reasons to go to the 2.0SC block. I'd look into how much building your 2.2 bottom end would cost compared to doing this engine swap, as building the motor would be much easier at this point, since nobody has done the swap yet and uncovered the problems you'll run into. Did you ever get the car running properly with the turbo? I was looking forward to seeing your car out this summer, but I havn't seen it in person yet.

Well 1 thing, I think people assume that it's a high quality forged bottom end, which it's not really. The pistons are rated to about 350 HP I believe and the rods are rated at 300 HP, yeah I know Ratings aren't always true (hell look at Hypsy pushing 300 WHP and our rods are rated at 250).
The point is, why get a motor just so you can boost it when you can have more potential with the 2.2 for the above reasons I listed in the other post?
Unless he's turboing the hell out of the 2.0, there is no real point in going with the hassle of a swap.
