O2 simulators...Do they work, which is best?
Wednesday, October 05, 2005 1:38 PM
Ok I'm gonna be upgradeing to 2 1/2 inch exhaust and all of a sudden I'm hearing how some cats don't work on our cars. So now I'm wondering if I'm gonna need one of these simulator things or not. The cat I'm getting is a MagnaFlow one that says on there web site that its a 3 way cat but just in case it doesn't which sim is best when money is no object? Any help would be appreasheated ( spelling I know )

Thanks

I used an O2 sim from Caspers Electronics on another car and it worked alright. I picked it up from Jegs, but I bought it with a bunch of other stuff and I don't remember what it cost. Under 50 though. As far as our cars, I don't know how well it will work. I used a Magnaflow cat on my exhaust and all I did was weld a bung for the O2 and put it in. I haven't had any issues with it at all. I'm also running a reprogrammed ECU though, and I don't know if that affected the emissions parameters. I would try using your O2 and if it throws a bad signal try the sim.

I have the one from Rk Sport. It is way over priced. Had the extra cash so I bought it a while back. I think it is junk. It threw my check engine light on.

If you are going to do the O2 sim do this one: Manual O2 sim
I have had a electronic one, and does not work from crap!!

The link on the first page said the account was suspended.

I read thru the posts and didn't see what the actual mod was. Do you have pics or you describe what it is more in depth? Do you just get a spacer for the stock sensor?

I think he used an "anti" spark plug fouler.

I have used the casper 02 sim, and it didn't work for crap. Big waste of $45 in my opinion.

I have a 2.25" exhaust, I had a nut welded to my exhaust. It's there for two month and no CEL. There's not a lot of those O2 sims that work so I think the best would be to put it back, I have a Pacesetter header and a Magnaflow Hi Flow cat (OBDII).

all cats work on our cars, you just have to pick one that is efficient enough to burn all the by products down....

no real need for an o2 sim unless you are boosted and really run straight pipe.

as long as you build your exhaust with efficient and quality parts theres no need for a sim.

/\ /\ /\ No silly, all my cars before this one were 1980 and older going back as far 1968.
So I've never had to deal with this comp stuff or emisions for that matter. Its all new to me.
