painted header

im not really worried about what is looks like. i found a painted pacesetter header for really cheap. it is the black one. does painted have anything to do with power or do people just not get it because the paint comes off easy??

From what I understand people don't buy it because it doesnt last as long as the ceramic coated one does. I'm assuming maybe perhaps its because of fatigue or something along those lines. Don't take my word for it though.

The painted finish will wear off after 10 minutes of driving and the header will look horrible forever. It's better for performance, looks, and durability to get one of their Armor Coated headers (ceramic coat)

wasn't there someone who sanded off all of that black paint and coated the header with something else?

correct me if I'm wrong.

I have the armor coated and it still look good... Too much work if you have too sand it and repaint it, you'll have to do it again later....

I believe they sandblasted it and then had it ceramic coated... too much extra effort, just buy it already done.

I have the painted one, I sand blasted it then put high temp painted on it, then baked the paint on. Paint still came off.
JUST ge the ceramic one.

as i said i dont care what it looks like. i just want to know if it being painted will have any effect in performance

The paint will not effect performance.
Its the same header.

Well, actually, to be anal, the painted one is a little (a little) lighter than the amor coat.
So yeah, it will effect performance in terms of overall weight of the car.

But unless the paint is clogged in the runners (highly unlikely) then you should have no problem

I have the painted one on my car and it look ok not great looking it is not a horrible. I live in FL so we don't have snow, salt on the roads etc.. (I don't near the sea either) so it is not a big issue for me. If you live up north in some of these conditions a ceramic coated may be your best bet.

I don't believe that the OBX header is CARB legal for those of you in California. That would be me and a few others but yeah, I've heard some good things about that header.
