Raising Fuel pressure: How??
Wednesday, September 28, 2005 6:37 PM
Hi. A mechanic where I work ( chrysler jeep dodge dealer, I know ) said that he gained like 4liters per 100km in fuel economy just by raising the fuel pressure. He also talked about a throttle body spacer but I remember reading about those being useless.

How do you raise the FP on an Ecotec? Do I have to buy another fuel rail? Or is it simply working with vaccum lines?

Thanks!

Get an adjustable fuel pressure regulator. And be sure to get one with a gauge so you know what it is being adjusted to.

First, if you raise your fuel pressure I believe that means your upping the amount of fuel you're using which probably wouldn't increase your MPG (someone correct me if I'm wrong).

Second, you don't need to increase your fuel pressure if you don't have to. If all you're trying to do is supply more fuel into your motor, raising your fuel pressure isn't necessary. Invest your money into an Fuel Management System. The way they supply fuel is through your computer and manipulating or tricking your computer into changing the signal to your injectors to send more or less fuel into your motor. Also, I wouldn't suggest changing your fuel amount unless you either A) Go to a dyno tuning shop to have it tuned and check your Air/Fuel Ratio or B) Invest in a Wideband to tune yourself.

Third, a throttle body spacer on our cars are useless and don't work...some say that it slightly improves your gas mileage but I have yet to see proof and would say it's not worth spending your money.

Fourth, you don't need a new fuel rail and your fuel rail will supply you with lots of fuel (even under boost)...also I don't believe any companies make an aftermarket fuel raile for the ECOTEC.

If you're looking to improve your gas mileage, invest in an intake system.

Hope this has helped you out.

I believe you would have to get it custom made but my question for you is are you sure you need a bigger fuel rail?
