K im getting ready to build a ecotec for big boost, im gonna stick with the stock crank for now and just get it balanced. I'm going with eagle h beam rods, wiesco 8.9:1 Pistons and some better valves and valve springs. I'm also running a emanage with all the add ons. I was just wondering what kind of rpm's this setup can handle or what else I can do to make it friggin scream.

eco build book says with new new valve springs, you can rev it to 7500rpms.
oops... forgot to add.... you'll need to get the rev limiter removed.
i've personally heard the stock valve train can handle 7000 but it honestly all matters where your power band is theres no sence in reving past your peak HP, so just remove the limiter when you can and then run it on the dyno and see where your peak HP is and set your RPM limiter to just a few hundred past that

The one, the only, ME.
Jeff, if the crank is going to be balanced, that opens up a whole new ball game.
get the Titanium Valves and Springs, coupled with the balanced crank, and you' wont have any trouble hitting the higher RPM's
yeah power stops dropping off at about 5600-5900 rpms. With boost, test it on a dyno and see where you should put the redline. But I would suggest you keep you power within 6500 rpms.

im pretty sure at 20 psi and dyno tuned it can put some pretty good hp at the higher end, and hey steve hows the engine coming along for ya. Dude i totally want to be there when you do the swap.
You might have a better change of getting things to work with the Megasquirt than the E-manage. My friend is already having enough trouble with fuel and it fighting with the computer on about 7 psi.

Is he actually doing it himself or is he getting it tuned by someone? Im gonna hand it over to the nerds on this one.

If you try to tune it yourself, you won't get anywhere without a wideband.

No I am aware of that thats why I'm going to get someone else to tune it with a dyno
engine's going slow, actually its stopped for a couple months, but I'll be back on track in no time.
Jeff, get a standalone, and you can get rid of that stupid rev limiter... just be sure the crank is balanced
plus if you can run that high rpms you can use a bigger turbo if you want your gains to be at the high end of the rpms

Don't forget to sleeve your block if you're going to be running a lot of boost. I intend to run up to 30psi after I upgrade my crankshaft. Before that, I will run 20psi or a little more at the track and 15psi on the street. Good luck on increasing your RPM's and good luck getting any real use out of it too. I thought about increasing my RPM range, but there's no real point as of now (at least for me). Also don't forget about getting water injection. It helps boosted cars TREMENDOUSLY and increases the longevity of the engine.

i read it somewhere maybe it was here that if u change the vavle springs on the ecotec then u can take it up to like 7500 rpms
