Alright it looks like I have some help to get this done, so I'm gonna give a rundown of things that need to be done.
The IDI cover comes off.
I have to remove the upper engine mount to get to the timing chain cover, the timing chain cover has to come off.
The crank pulley has to come off before I can finish getting the timing chain cover off.
Take off the P/S pump on the intake cam, Easy enough.
Take off the Cam pos. sensor.
The Cam carriers have to be opened up before I can get to the stock camshafts,
Alright so far so good right?
Then I have to unbolt the cams and remove them, of course...
Lube up the new ones and install em.
And then my worst foe. Timing.
What would be the best way to tackle this?

http://www.ny-jbodies.org/library/engine/2.4/2.4camsecret/2.4intakecam.htm]This writeup[/URL] Doesn't say anything about timing as far as I can read it. it just pretty much says
Install the camshaft in the same position as when removed. The timing chain sprocket dowel pin should be straight up and line up with the centerline of the lifter bores.
Where do I have to set timing?
I assume I can remove the camshaft without removing the entire housing.
I'd appreciate any advice on this. This project is to be tackled either tomorrow or wednesday.
if anyone would like, they could give me a detailed walkthrough via e-mail. I'd really appreciate it

Thanks a lot guys.
you just have to unclip the electric connector on the Cam pos. sensor cause it will come off with the carrier. timing wise its not as hard as you think, its pretty much strait forward. after you have the new cams in and generally it the same position as when you took them out, put the cam gears back on. there are two holes on the cam gears, put two bolts through these holes and align the holes in the gears with the two holes on the block with the bolts. some people say that they skipped a tooth on the gears and there timing was off. I really don't see how this is possible at all. every thing lines up perfectly if you do it the same way as you took them off. when I did mine I got really really nerves because I had the cams and cam gears in with the holes aligned but the bolts that I put in the holes were really tight and couldn't budge them at all. I put the timing chain back on and the bolts loosened up and was like it was before I pulled anything off, thats how I knew I had it timed correctly.
good luck, I highly recommend buying a Haynes or Chiltons if you don't already have one. Also I hope I didn't just confuse you more but you will understand more once everything is opened up.

yes I have a Chilton's manual. I just wanna be 100% ready and willing to do this. this is as major as it's gonna get for me. Anyone else have any tips?
took me about four days

cause the exhaust cam didn't won't to go in right because of the new gaskets

It's raining...
Why of all the @!#$ days does it have to rain NOW
@!#$ me..
updates later.
dont forget to put the piston at TDC. For that, just allign the dot on the crank gear with the one on the block.
I'll give you two tips. Get a torque wrench and do everything to spec. Cast aluminum (especially cam towers) breaks easily. If you @!#$ up, and have to unseat the cam carrier gasket, get new ones, because you WILL get a leak.
I guess that's three. Ah well.
