Building an N/A everyday 2.4l (Need some help)
Monday, September 26, 2005 3:13 PM
Well my engine just had a rod go out on it. So I am going to rebuild my spare engine.

Its a 2.4l with a manual transmission. I have looked at some of the ways people build up their engines but not sure of which way is worth it. This is my daily driver but I also want it to be fast. It will be a N/A engine unless sometime way down the road I S/C it.

Can anyone tell me some decent set up for the 2.4l. I would like to use the 2.3l stuff also.

Any help is appriciated

Sorry if that didnt make a whole lot of since, I have a lot going through my mind right now.

Obviously you got the basic bolt on's:

Intake
Header
High-Flow Cat
Cat-back Exhaust System
2.3L HO Intake Manifold
Port & Polish Head
Cam's
Maybe some high compression piston's, not too sure bout those though.

Just a few examples.

Should I bore it out and if so how much?

if you just build it up its not gonna be too much faster, if you want to go N/A you should go for higher compression. If you do this you won't be able to go boosted down the line though cause you will want lower compression for that. If you bore it out you are making your sleeve even thiner and that just isn't a good idea for the hp you are going to get from it, If you could some how stroke it and use some high compression pistons that could probably kick some ass.

raise the compression, loose the balanced shafts, some cams, and then basic bolt ons, and maybe some computer tuning. How faster are you wanting?
