I was thing about gett ing the Megan Single Exhaust and OBX Headers($157) for my 2000 2200 Cavalier. The megan exhaust ($275) comes with an 2.5 inch mandrel piping, would this be a good buy?
I think its too big unless you plan for boost.

I do plan for boost later on....when I can afford it. What would be the down side to having 2.5" piping?
I'm almost positive the Megan Racing catback is 2.25"

youd lose low end power. 2.25" is the best size for a 4cyl unless your boosting.
i didnt see a megan cat-back for are cars.i went to there site and there wasnt any on there
thanks james
...there is one. i know of 2 members who have pics of em installed on their carsa, though i cant remember their names.
coming from a guy who HAS a 2.5 inch exhaust on a 2.2lohv and who HAS lost low end power and who HAS a new exhaust system on the way that is going on in a week, trust me...go with a 2.25 inch system.

itll be a bit quieter, too.
...don't hate!.. respect people that have talent, even if it is in something you don't like or understand.
2.25 for NA. 2.5 for boost. that's that.

yeah the megan racing exhaust is 2.5 i had been thinking about it a long time ago and now that i have the money im gonna go with rksports 2.25
well since the Megan Racing is 2.5 (which I'm still not sure of, I think I'm going to call) then I just might use that for my turbo exhaust because it looks purdy

I just wish that Rksport had that canister style for single exhaust like Megan.

RKS is expensive. You can get the same thing (just less purdy and shiny) by a good exhaust shop for half the price.

Why do you your muffler to look like a coffee can?

He does have a point. For some reason I prefer a canister look over a stock style muffler. I guess it's the ricer in me. But as long as the car goes fast...

The megan cat back piping IS 2.25" the muffler that comes w/ the catback is 2.5". Just get an n1 style Megan muffler on ebay and have a shop bend you the pipe. Same thing and much cheaper.

Any pics of this would be appreciated.
I'll have a sig someday....................
Just buy the stuff, take it to a shop, and have them weld it up and bend the piping for you. A shop quoted me for this work at $150. That's me loading the parts in my car, dropping it off at the shop, and comming back with it installed and ready to drive.

I was told by a shop i could only go as big as 2.25, any bigger i will loose back pressure and power, so i have a 2.25 inch pipeing and a vibrant dtm muffler, dynomax highflow cat, and obx 4-2-1 header, not to bad on a 3 speed auto.2200.
