Which battery should I put into my sunfire, optima website says they dont make one for our cars but i have seen people recommending them
i didn't know there were specific applications... um... as long as it has both side terminals, not top mounted terminals. you're set.
I was a retard, and now I'm permanently banned.
Get the one with top and side terminals like mine.

Batteries aren't vehicle specific...they offer top and side mounted terminals so any vehicle can use it.

You should at least go with one that is the same (or close) group size and try to match the CCAs. If you just go buy the first one you see, it may be too big or too small, and it may not even start your car (not enough amperage).
i have one here the numbers off of it.
Part # yel34/78
Model # 9151189
CA 870
CCa 750
Hope that helps you out.
i have the optima yellow top and it's one battery i'm gonna stick with, but what's up with the red top i keep hearing about, like i either here get the yellow or the red if you have a system in your car?
the yellow top is a starting/dep cycle battery. The red top is just a starting battery
I have one in my 2001 z, and it fits just a bit bigger then the stock battery, but still with plenty of room. I think you need a size 75 for our cars if I remember right
Over priced over hyped junk! Don't waste your money,I used to sell them at Advance auto and for the price they cost they are no better then a regular battery when it comes to life. Just go but a decent battery and save the difference for other stuff.

yeah......say that in the winter....optimas are the best battery period......well worth the money, a few winters ago i left my radar detector on in the cold and after 2 days my batt was totally shot, had to buy a new one.......so i got an optima red top.....last winter, left the same detector on for 2 days, went to the car......perfect starting

i have a red top myself. im happy with it

Im a Xbox 360 fanboy...and damn proud of it!!
ooohhh the great battery debate =)
after two dead reg cell batts, one gm and one autozone special...
red top in mine, the upgraded to a yellow top... gel cells are more resillient, same as most dry cells, although dyna-batts are lower capacity.
well worth the money.
as far as life goes, i've left my cooling fan running for well over 2 hours on accident, took a nap woke up, granted i was low voltage for a bit, if i did that with a dual flex a lite fan it would def more than likely screw a cell up...
had the car for nearly 7 years, optima yellow top has been there atleast 3.5 of the 7.
with the msd, in traffic heat, running a cooling overide, i;ve lasted thus far and also one night hanging at whitemarsh, alternator went out.... drove from whitemarsh mall to towson university with a dead alternator, and the batt never dropped below 11.9 volts... good 20 minute trip...
Ask Slaminsunfire how great these things are. Since I've known him hes gone thru 4
yellow tops and killed them all. He runs 2 batteries at the same time one for the car and one for his airride. BTW I've known him for about 3 months. And yes he has some huge high-output alternator to keep them both up. When I was at Advance this dude who had a mad system in his Suburban ran 3 one was for the truck and 2 for his amp and everything else he had. I warrentied like 5 or 6 for him. Maybe I've just heard and seen all the bad about them this is completely possible as I won't discount Events positive experences or any others here. But for the money they cost I've just heard and delt with W A Y too many problems for them to be worth it. As for starting power in the cold I've never had a problem with the plain old Advance Auto silver batteries. In 10 years I only needed 2 in my old Firebird. Buy whatever you like I'm however completely un-impressed by these things.

Use a Optima made for a Honda, they're smaller and lighter.

if i remember right, he also had alot of electrical issues, leaving things on etc.... what you told me at columbia when you did his wiring etc...
my philosiphy, take care of your battery, it takes care of you. so far its worked for me. nothing is fool proof, but some are more resilient than others.
/\ /\ /\ Oh he deff had "issues" !!!!! Thats why I added I wasn't gonna discount your positive experences its just that I've had all bad ones thats all.
