Can you put exhaust wrap on a catalytic converter? Mine is hitting the heat shield at times and i wanted to stop the noise. Can I do this, or does the cat need to be able to dissipate heat through the body?
wouldnt do it... take it to a shop have em spot weld the sheild...
If you want to keep your exhaust from moving, get some motor mounts because when your shifting hard your motor will jerk hard and it's probably hitting it that way.

Cats like heat. So I would say go for it.

got em already. my cat is just too close to the heat shield. i tried bending the heat shield a bit and it seems to have helped, but time will tell.
Don't do it. Overheating a cat is a guaranteed way to kill it. Thats why using wrap on a street car header is bad.
that's what i thought, but i thought I'd ask on the outside chance I was wrong.

The way you overheat a cat and melt it, is by running way rich.
And you don't run header wrap on a header because moisture gets between the wrap and header and corrodes the header.

Well, I could try to stop the flow of misinformation here, but I won't. I just hope anyone reading this is able to do their own research and find the correct answer.
