^^^ actually that looks to be the 2000+ starters....

they take less amps to start the car on startup....are slightly smaller and same cranking amps...

unless you are so high in compression you need a superduty starter, the 2000+ starters will get the job done more efficiently than the 95-99 bigger starters.

Stop and think for a minute.

Why do you need a "performance" starter?

Most likely your mind will draw a blank. When it does, remove your current starter and have a friend take you down to the local parts store and pick up a starter made for your car.

The 2000+ starters are significantly more expensive than the older style and they are only like 8lbs less.

Besides, according to your registry you are going to be swaping to a 2.4l and adding a turbo. Why invest in the current motor that your going to ditch?

CustomCavy, those starters are for smallblock Chebbies. My experience with the OEM gear reduction starters in other applications is that they seem to last longer than the older OEM direct drive starters. When the starter in my 93 died, I called a wrecking yard and had the 2000+ starter delivered for cheap $$, maybe $15? It's substantially lighter than the old style unit. Also, many of the "race only" lightweight starters don't last very long on the street.
