2.4L Block assembly

Ok im looking into rebuilding my 2.4L since i need a new head gasket and will have it all apart to begin with. So yea on to the point, I am wondering if its possible to replace the pistons and rods with the block on the car? Ik you can replace the bearings by pulling the oilpan off but could u just take out the whole crank and then pull the pistions? Im going to be getting a head with a p/p and 3 or 5 angle valve job. also im gona try and get some JBP Stage 2 cams, what would be a good compression pistion for this engine.....suspcting that within a year or two i might get a GM supercharger aswell. Help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Andy

You have to remove the transmission and timing chain. Once that is out you can remove the rods and crank. once it is stripped this much you should just pull out the block and have it bored.
