Found this on eBay. I don't have an ecotec, but if I did, I would be all over this one...

Have fun! Hopefully I didn't spoil it for anyone

"THIS LISTS FOR $4192.84!"

Umm...seriously that is a crock. A head with a simple port and polish, camshafts & replace head components will not equal that amount of money. No...don't bid on it.

Check out the ECOTEC Build Guide for companies if you are seriously interested in purchasing one.

Actually the price that GM quoted was exactly that.

I don't claim to be a pro with GM products, but I sure know a great deal about import engines like Porsche. I may have to relist the head, but it isn't a simple port and polish. It was CNC machined and has ALL the goodies. I don't think that it can be welded, but it is pretty darn wicked for the money with everything it has.

Where did you get the idea of simple port and polish? Eyes can't see the CNC machining marks? I ran it by CHAPMAN racing and they said the work looked very nice and may have been one of their protos. I am waiting for further info.

I am also trying to figure out the lift and duration.

The cracks are all in the no pressure zone as well.

Feel free to ask me any questions that I can answer for you. Wish I knew this was here before I listed it.

Thanks,

Garrity

Exactly...why would you waste your money on a cracked head?

the head is brand new it looks like it was just dropped if it is what its listed to be then it still wouldnt be a bad deal cause you would get the valves retainers etc. for a decent price and then just P&P your own head

this thread is funny. the head is easily repairable, even though i woldn't really use JB Weld to fix a cylinder head... i'd buy it, sell it as brand new again on ebay, minus the pictures of the cracked area, and blame the crack on shipping. Hey, it's ebay. You can blame anyone on ebay.

I would like to take the cam + valves + springs from the head for sale on e-bay and have them installed on my stock head. Is it possible? Phht Dumb question? Obviously it will work, ill just have a cam thats tuned for a cnc ported head.. running in a stock head, wich will make a big difference? How much can i have my stock head cnc ported for?

Yeah it will work but I guess your taking a risk on getting some parts from a damaged head.

There is no such thing as having a cam tuned for a specific head. I would suggest reading up on what a camshaft does inside your motor and how it effects your motor.

Prices on porting a head depends on where you take it.
