Some guage installation questions
Tuesday, September 06, 2005 7:35 AM
Hi,

I want to hook up my electric Oil Pressure and Water Temp gauges, but have no idea which wires to use. Each gauge has 2 lead wires. I was able to figure out the Voltmeter hook-up

The gauges are installed, lit, etc - just wondering if anyone has pics or good desriptions of where to tap the wires. It's an 03 Cav.

Thanks!

Oh yeah - does anyone know how hot the tranny coolant gets? I'd rather use the extra water temp gauge as a tranny temp gauge, but was unsure if the temps were similar or if one ran hotter then the other. My gauge goes from 0-260 degrees.

Water temp might just be able to use a stock sensor, and tap into the wire, never installed one of those.

However for the electric oil pressure, there is not a stock gauge to measure oil pressure, so the gauge should have came with a brass (gold) oil pressure sender. it will screw into an oil port. does the 03 have the ecotec engine? I'm not sure where it is on that engine, but the wire to the gauge just attaches to the back of that. As long as the body of that gauge is grounded, it will all work. Hardest part is getting that sensor installed into an oil port/line/ part of the block.

OK, thanks

Anyone who knows how to locate the oil port on an Eco, please let me know.

you should have a Hayne's / Chilton's manual. You could look it up and have that sucker installed in the time it takes you to log into JBO and make that post, then wait for an answer.

Last time I checked, Haynes was way behind and they had not released a manual for the 03-up yet.

But I'll head up to Advanced and see what I can find.
