well Im well on my way to a boosted j. I am now tackiling the exhasut problem. My waste gate has a cool EG reloaction system so thats NP. but I am still in the woods as for what to do about the DP back. I figured the best solution is to just make my own so I plan on buying exhasut bends from ebay or another online supplier. then buying a highflow cat and muff and just getting it all welded up ill use hangers for the install and a basic turbo flange for my hot side. after looking at the prices not includeding the muff and cat it looks like its going to be around 150 serisouly try it for your self. how does this sound to you guys and why isnt this done more often. it just seems so easy.

what to do about downpipe back eh? Well... I guess since you are going turbo of course you'd want 2.5" piping. And I don't know... I really wouldn't want to make it myself, that would be kind of a pain to get piping to follow in the underbody channel, blah blah blah. But however you want to do it. It's not always as easy as it looks.

I understand that Im going to be making measurments out the wazzo but who i dont care. ill be waiting for other parts to come in any way this will just keep me occupied untill then.

maybe you could figure out what bends you need, pull off your stock exhaust, fab it up just mimicing thepath of the stock exhaust and that could work

I was thinking about that but I am a little worried that because I am using a bigger diameter pipe the bends will have to be different.

It can be done, its really not that hard either. It will help ifyou can have access to a metal chop saw and a welder (even if its just to tack it in place). Also a nice belt/disc sander is super helpful. Small changes in the cut angle can make a big difference down the line. Also you will want each piece to fit together as tightly as possible before being welded up.
I would highly recommend using 3 bolt header flanges to attach each section together to make it more serviceable.
Just ge the car way up inthe air on some jackstands and start holding up the different bends.
You will be taking parts of it off now and then to work on other crap, I guarantee.

Yeah I was wondering about that I dont really have any means of sanding the edges down to get a good fitment. I figure that the guys at the weld shop are going to do what there told (nothing more) which means that its my job to get the fitment down. I do have a dremel are there any bits that I can get also is there anyway to hand sand it with a block or should I just bite the bullet and get a cirular sander.

Hand sanding metal exhaust tubing is going to get pretty tiring, real quick.... Harbor Freight sells a metal cutting chop saw for like 60 bucks.
I planned on going to Autozone and picking up some flexible 2.5" exhaust tubing (if they make it) and use that to mock up the downpipe bends.

the biggest i typically see there is 2.25" but then again I don't go to AutoZone. Hand sanding exhaust piping? SCREW THAT! Or just use a die grinder.

I have a $99 Delta benchtop belt/disc sander that I have used to make all my piping. Im sure you can get it cheaper now or see what harbor freight has. I think they have a 12" disc sander with a decent sized motor on it. Which would work mint with some 40grit on it

Build your own, learn from it. Picking up knowledge by doing things by hand is the best way.
Either way, I made mine. Think I used 3 J-bends from Summit, no straight lengths. All the straight pieces came from J-bend left overs and components (cat, muffler, flex pipe, and resonator). I agree with Dan, use flanges. My exhaust goes as such:
Turbo - flexpipe:
flexpipe - end of straight section:
straight section - just over axle
just over axle - exhaust end:
So, that's all the joints I have. It's a breeze to remove.
