I'm looking to install a Stewart Warner mechanical oil pressure gauge.
For all the searching I've done, it seems that pressure isolators are only mentioned with regards to fuel pressure gauges. I'd prefer not to have a 200 degree pressurized oil line running to my a-pillar so I'd like to use the same sort of isolator.
Autometer sells a high pressure isolator, but everything I'm reading seems to indicate that they intend it to be used for fuel pressure gauges.
Does anyone know whether this:

can be use with this:

Thanks people!!
I think it wouild work just fine, but the new autometer electric guages are just as accurate and much easier and cheaper than going that route, but its up to you.
I think it will work, lets us know what you find out.

ya, why get a mechanical? The only reason i got my electrical gauge is because I didn't want HOT HOT oil going through my A pillar. Instead, i have a wire going from the pressure sensor, on my block, to the pillar. As far as i know, they both provided the same reading.
i had a autometer electrical oil psi guage. i had to go to the hardware store to get some brass fittings to make the sending unit work into the head. i dont like the idea of running oil into my interior.
plus too i think oil guages are worthless unless u are running a turbo. reason being by the time the #3 rod bearing goes, there is no way of catching with the oil pressure guage.
I don't like the idea of running hot oil inside the car either, hence the question about the isolator.
As for whether it's useful... many people have told me that the LD9 can have oil pressure issues and that when it does, really bad things can happen. I'm told it's something that I should be keeping an eye on.
Are you suggesting that by the time the gauge says anything, it's probably too late? I figured that statement would apply to the idiot light...
Yeah somthing about the #3 rod journal i think.
A mechaanical gaueag and an electrical guage will read the same and have the same response time, becasue you stil have an electric sender in a oil gallery, maybe the biggest thing to do would be to try and mount it closest to the trouble spot as you can, that way if you start yo loose pressure there, you know you have a problem.
Usualy with oil, if you wait till you have no PSI its usally to late, and most oil PSI problems dont give early warnings.

get an electric guage.
now i want 3 guages...
one for the engine, one for the turbo, and one for the return line...
that way, i'll know everything...
except that there may be a problem with anything other than the oil system

Dammit, I'm getting a mechanical gauge and if that means I get a hot oil face wash every now and then, SO BE IT!!!
Yeah thats it weasel, do what you want and dont listen to the rest of us.
I would atleast invest in a good braided line for the hokup if the guage and not the plastic nylon stuff that comes with the guage.

This is actually the current plan.

I'm going to get the gauge first so I know exactly what fittings are on it. Then I'm going to figure out how to install it, whether with an isolator or, most likely, with a braided line.
You will be fine with the braided line in the car. That is what I am working on now, and a friend of mine already has it. I am changing to braided because small problem with a hole in th the nylon tube ( in the engine bay )

ive never had any problems with oil leaks in the car , and ive used mechanical gagues for over 20 years
here is where i taped for my oil pressure gauge , it is the copper line it will respond to a pressure loss a bit quicker than up at the head , and requires less parts
