building a motor

ok my friend has an 95 HO cavy with the quad four, auto tranny and he also has a 2000 LD9 2.4 with another auto tranny.
1) the tranny in the quad four is crapped out. the auto tranny off the ld9 will work
2) the crank on the quad four is cracked between the #1 and #2 cylinder. I dont know how
i know the ld9 block is supposedly a better block and it would bolt to the HO head but with the mounts on the new ld9 match on the older 95 that had the HO? also what is the compression ratio with that combo? and is that too high for a N/A cavy? (i have a B16 and the CR's are noticeably higher). would the HO pistons work in the cavy if the sleeves were bored?

i would also like to know how much work is involved in puttin the 2.4 crank in the HO block and makin it a 2.5? and i am assuming that i would have the use the 2.4 rods also.

What are my options and what do yall think will be the best motor i can build with the resources i have. gimme some specs (CR, stroke, bore, etc.)also. thAnx chase

why does the HO have the same amount of hp as the 2.4L. i thought it had hotter cams, better flowin head, and higher compression ratio.

The Ho is no where near the same power as the 2.4. Teh Ho has 180-170hp and 160lbs of torque depending on the year. Nowhere near the 150 from the 2.4.

The 2.4 will work with the 2.3 Ecm and harness. You may need to change some little things. IE: coolant hose, downpipe, ...

as you asked before .. yes the HO head CAN be MADE to fit on a 2.4 block....and yes you can make the 2.4 crank fit the 2.3 block but you will need to use the 2.4 rods with it...and no i dont think youll get HO pistons to fit in a 2.4 block no matter how much its bored
