I have an 03 cavy right now with nitrous.
of course, it is not fast enough for me...
I was am 100% sure I am going to upgrade the engine, but have no idea after about a week's worth of research what to do.
I have looked into merely buying a supercharger (prolly from RSM) and putting it onto the car, along with upgrading the internals.
I have also looked into putting an entirely new motor in it, like swapping a 3.8 or even one of the Monte Carlo SS motors. However, this is a V8 and I don't think this will fit.
Does anyone know the motor size limit for the 03 cavys?
Would a turbocharged eco have more power than a supercharged 3.8?
Any insights on my dillemma would be greatly appreaciated.
All comments welcome.
i say get a quad, and supercharge it

hows that sound

my first bit of advice....
learn more about engines, instead of running around like a chicken with its head cut off...
you just asked

obviously the answer to that would be, the engine running the most boost would prob be more powerful.
theres more to power than just what you add to the engine... such as how much boost, fuel and air and spark is being combusted.
as it stands, the ecotec can be upgraded to the same thing they run in the IHRA series pushing over 1000 whp...
however, are your pockets empty cuz?
cause speed costs, how fast do you REALLY wanna go?

um are you saying you can get over 1000whp from a 4 banger?

yes...
check out ImportBuilders.com
Jeff has a few incredible Eco blocks and I believe he sells internals. You could build an INSANE nitrous motor if you have the means.
I was a retard, and now I'm permanently banned.

have you just NOT even heard of lisa kubo, nelson hoyos, pretty much anyone from the gm race team running drag race cars?
i never really looked into it...but i didnt think 1000whp was possible from a 4cyl
that was a couple of years ago, they are in the 1400+ range now
check out www.jbodyperformance.com They claim that one of their LD9's with most of the upgrades will put between 280 to300 hp to the ground. They said they'll send dynos for those seriously interested. it'll cost a good bit though!
dont get a quad 4.....my grandpa works at GM and that is the most common motor they get in there for them getting blow and what not. i guess they are really just plain @!#$. if you want a 2.4 get the Twin Cam, well i think quads are 2.3 but u know what i mean.

put this in to consideration, think about how allot of people treat their cars, and how long its been since the last one was produced.
a friend of mine is running about 280+ on an Eco and its street driven as well.

True but he told me this 2-3 years ago.....and he said a whole lot, not just from the few people running them hard.

turbo of course (? 14 psi) stock internals, and allot of hard work. should be getting some forged stuff this winter. SunCavi is close behind with 11 psi last I heard.
ran like 12.9 at 113 @ Moroso in high humidity and heat, but at near sea level.
