Hey guys and girls iam sorry if this is in the worng place or something but iam wonderin if u can help me out. I was wonder what engine i can put in a older cavalier (1989 to 1993) that will give me like 300hp thx for any help
any engine you want....seriously....
all three engines currently available for third gens can reach that....
however the second gens have the 2.8 and 3.1 which might make your goals easier being you have 6 cylinders to start with as opposed to 4 and one comes with around 170-180hp...
its your choice though really.
i want something what i wont have to cut the firewall out at all
the v6's are direct replacements in the 88-93 cars...
you should already have a v6, unless you have the 2.2.ohv...
but like already said, any of the engines in a cavalier from 88-2005 can be done to 300 hp.
if you dont know what engine you have, def suggest reading up about your car.
i dont have the car yet i was sjut wonderin because i have allways liked the body of the z24 form 1989 to 1993 and what would have to do thats the engine to get about 300hp and ball park of what it would cost thx alot man ur helpin
well depending on the car, i believe you are shootin for a v6 2.8 or 3.1 depending on the year.
this site should give you more back ground on the engines...
http://www.v6z24.com/
it all depends on how much money your planin on soakin into your ride.
best advice though is 2.2 or 2.0 s/c though
thats what iam tryin to figer out how much its goin to cost me and how i can do it
so if any one gots a ball park of the cost to get 300hp plzz telll me and what would i have to do to get it plzzzzzzzzz help iam new to this stuff
Find you a nica 2nd Gen V6 car and just swap in a 3800 S/C . Seriously off of the bat you would start at 240 HP and with some tuning you could reach the 300 HP mark .

depending on where you go, who you buy from, will you be doing the work, or how much does a shop charge per hour, how much you wanna invest, are you gonna buy parts that you really dont need, but buy em just because they are there, or are you gonna do a complete rebuild, or are you gonna turbo the car... or just run nitrous.....
theres no real set price lists of, i want 300 hp.... its gonna cost X amount of dollars.
main thing right now i would suggest is to sit down and start planning out some of your goals, and start looking up prices... call shops see how much they charge for rebuilds and or installs if needed.
call around to shops, etc...
i wanan do all the work myself moreless and i dont really wanna run nitrous i dont think it really hp becuase its not allways there
