which is better? plastic or aluminum intake?

im sure this has been asked before, i would just like to hear everyone's opinions and experiences with manifold swaps. im in the process of porting a quad 4 intake to match my ports (not HO) and adding the quad throttle body with it. has anyone gained power from the quad intake? is the bigger plenum on the HO really worth the pain in trying to find one? i think the plastic one probably flows better and conducts less heat, but the quad has longer runners, which would increase torque... is this correct? any opinions would be appreciated. thanks all.

plastic holds less heat, but hard to find smooth inside plastics...but its out there.

aluminum holds heat, but dissapates it quick

steel holds heat, but being denser than aluminum holds it the longest.

also on plastic, certain plastics, basically PVC shouldnt be used in an engine bay. heat extracts toxic fumes from the makeup of it...

ABS is what to shoot for if you go plastic.

if you meant the manifolds, my view would be it would depend on what you plan to do with the car.

ie plumb nitrous, turbo,etc...

im just going for a NA motor, possibly turbo someday... but which is better for na? im also thinking about making a carbon fiber intake, which would be the best choice- smooth surfaces, low heat transfer, lightweight, and strong.

not really a better choice, each has their advantage and disadvantage.... different full out million dollar race teams use different things.

mostly carbon fiber or aluminum. as for intake manifolds, the plastic ones should be sufficient for N/A and even low to medium boost.

the best performing intakes i have ever seen are Iceman intakes. and yes they are plastic.
