my insight... the ONLY way to make serious power out of a 2.2 OHV is boost. so get to know it very well.

that's a lot of money and fabrication for a 14 second time slip... our project civic is destined for mid to high 13s on stock bottom end, 8 psi, 390cc injectors, sohc vtec intake manifold, and with us street tuning with Uberdata. $1500 spent. We'll be taking it on its maiden voyage after tuning this weekend.

my bad, old page

http://members.aol.com/KWZ26/byronC.html

13.6 N/A as of yet, i havent really seen a faster 2.2 ohv really. turbo or otherwise.

also i dont think any prices are listed on that page, so where are you getting "alot of money"... realy you dont need alot of money if you have the knowledge and time to do your own work. thats the biggest misconception with people here. if you;ve ever seen doomie, its not pretty, but it got the 13 second job done back in early 2000;s when no one had run 13;s yet on this forum. the whole project didnt cost nearly as much as some people have spent on here for just boltons...

also comparing j-bodies to civics, which have way more parts availability is like comparing j-bodies to corvettes... both civics and corvettes have a high availability of quality parts from many companies, and in stock.

ok i give some more props there. but as for the first link you could see my point. just judging with my experience, for what it probably cost to do that first build, that could have been invested differently. yes yes it's the idea that counts and i respect the work and all.... but no one in a GT mustang is going to respect that work for a car that it can still stomp.

haha I was about to say, comparing a honda period to a J???? haha but alright!

And yea just read through that post. Alot of good points made! Wish I could make a sticky for the 2200/2.2ohv motors so there can be no more posts! What's required for it to be a sticky?

nothing will ever end the endless plethora of intake / exhaust / bolt on posts in this forum. ever. people seem to think that their posts are unique and they don't need to read / search. and regarding the comparing J to honda, i'm just comparing progress to cash flow ratio. plus our project car is a 4 door... the first 96-00 sedan to be turbo'd in our area.

most people arent modding cars to get respect from GT mustang drivers...

if one couldnt respect dropping 5 seconds off a time slip, and doing it n/a, then really should you really care about the egocentric idiot?

You can definitely go faster Adler. I ran a 13.9 in the bug with a high 8 second 1/8th mile time and way less 1/8th mile trap than is in your sig, and i'm pretty sure if my launch hadn't have sucked on that run it would have been a 13.7. It just takes A LOT of practice and a good set of tires. I'd bet your car is capable of at least low 13's, maybe high 12's if you really get yourself dialed in. And I'm not just making a hopeful guesstimate, I've seen cars with similar 1/8th's run those times. Be like me (an incredible loser with no g/f and too much time on his hands) and go to the track twice a week for 8 months and i'm sure you'll watch those times drop

event i completely understand and agree with your point. i used to be all about that. i used to be all about dropping a few seconds to gain respect from the other J body guys who know what it takes. but ya know... there just aren't many knowledgable J body guys that i run into on the street every day. they won't give a @!#$ what my car ran before and after, they won't care about the LN2 fuel system, they won't care about what it takes to make power out of my setup. if they win, they win. i only used mustang GT drivers as a stereotype for all the cars out there that are quick, and as a timeslip range close to that low 14 / high 13 range. let's face it. sure put down 4k into a cavalier to hit 14s. no one at a track cares. it's still a 14 second cavalier. and that gets you NO where in a community like mine. i'm not trying to call you out, i'm just stating that sometimes you have to push the line further to make a car fast enough to be called fast by a large group of people who just don't understand.
