Well after careful debate and reasoning with myself. I've come to realize something.

I want boost.

I can't afford boost though.

I figure I should at least try to get ready for when I have enough cash saved up I can get boosted.

I might be doing my exhaust here pretty soon and since my car has no boost at all I was gonna do 2 1/4 inch dia piping, but since I'm looking to get boosted someday maybe it'd be worth it to go 2.5 instead of having to buy a whole new exhaust system when the time comes. what do you all think?

I've had 2 2.5" systems, and it might not be optimal in some people's eyes, but by no means is it "too much" for a modded 2.4L. I say do it without hesitation.

For the time being, I would say get a 2 1/2". When you get your turbo and your running at a decent PSI, you might want to upgrade to 3" but really 2 1/2" is just fine for a boosted application.

I would only get 2 1/2" now if you really want to get an upgraded exhaust system in the near future.

yea 2.5" will suit you just fine for sub-300 horsepower. unless you are running over 12 psi i wouldn't even consider 3" yet. but by then you are going to be running into plenty of other expenses so cross that bridge when you get there.
