I was watching TV this morning before work, and they said that for every 100lbs that is in your car, you use about 15hp. Is that true?

that being true your car might not move at all.
180 lb man x 15 hp = 2700 hp ?
and that doesn't even include the weight of the car, something doesn't add up, anybody else have graphs and charts lol ?
i think it should have said something to the effect that for every 100 lbs you remove from your car you gain a tenth of a second. and adding 10 hp will give you a tenth of a sec.

You need to read what he wrote again. He said ever 100 lbs. SO a 180 lb guy would be looking at 18.75hp for a 180 lbs guy.
NO you do not gain power by losing weight, but makes your power work better for you. Some people will compare a low weight car with certain power to a higher HP car with more weight.
Does beating a 800hp car make your car 800 hp, or more?? No Just a good setup and use of power.

go waaayyyy faster then mach 3. my dad worked on and re-fueled them on midway island back in nam you can about double that mach 3 guess. did you know that when
they land from a very high super sonic run the skin on the air craft is actualy expanded
from all the heat to the point that they need to be followed down the runway by foamtrucks because of all the fuel thats dumping out of there seems from heat sepperation. cool huh? thats also why none of them ever were shot down. also
why nasa uses them for training cause there the fastest thing short of the mach 22
the space shuttle hits durring re-entery.
but enough of this airplane talk i want a 2700 hp cavy!!!

divide the weight of yr car per horse power to get a power to wieght ratio ex. 2800 divided by 150 equals 18.6 lbs per horse power. now say a honda has a wieght of 2200 lbs divided by 107 hp stock equals 20.56 lbs per pound of car
i think my friends gsr has 14.5 lbs per horse so if y had a 200hp cavi it would be 14 pound of car for hp wich i pretty good power to weight ratio.
facts is a lighter car accelerate faster enough said
