The LD9 Twin Cam was a 2.4 L Quad 4 variant with balance shafts, debuting in 1996. Bore was decreased from 92 mm to 90 mm and stroke increased from 85 mm to 90 mm for better torque, and power remained the same at 150 hp (112 kW). This engine received a minor update halfway through the 1999 model year that eliminated the EGR, increased the the compression ratio from 9.5:1 to 9.7:1, and switched from low impedance fuel injectors to high impedance.
Any more details than I have up there? 2.4 liter dohc 16v engine in a 1998 z24 is the same as a 96 97 and 99? or just 96-98?
Got a question for ya Shifted. If the 99 2.4 had the EGR deleted, where is the EGR in the 98 version? I have the 98 version and have no EGR. If you know where it is, I would be happy to know.

Shifted If you could, would you please provide a pic of where the EGR is located. I have done a lot of research and have found nothing stating that my 2.4 has an EGR valve. Thanks!!

Your EGR is on the front drivers side of the engine, close to the head. It's just in front of the feed to the fuel rail, between your throttle body and your power steering resovoir, but closer to the resovoir than the tb. It looks like a little canister, with a sensor on top of it. It will have a line going around the head to the exhaust side, and a line going into the intake side of the head.
Make sense?

Thanks Matt. Nothing was ever stated in the owners manual about the EGR. It used to be that you had to have them checked out every once in a while. I know that they have a check-out for the 2.2L's EGR valve.
