There is only one shop in fargo that does mandrel bending but the guy at the shop said they did not do 2.25 piping, only 2.5. The other shop does press bending or compression, (are they the same) and i could get 2.25 piping or 2.5. So im wondering would 2.5 mandrel bent be too big. If so should i get 2.25 or 2.5 compression or press bent piping because it gets smaller when its bent.
I dont know why they dont do 2.25 , i will ask though. So press bent and compression bends are not the same thing and press wold not be the way to go.
One has a slight dip at the bends, the other has ripples at the bends, and obviously the amount of ripples depends on how much the piping is bent. Compression bends are the way to go if you have to decide between them and press bends. Just my $0.02
No. Compression bend = press bend. Press bent is better than crush bent, and mandrel bent is better than both. But the gains from press to mandrel bent don't seem to justify the difference in pricing between the two. I'd say just stick with the 2.25" press bent. It'll work just fine.

mandrel only looks prettier. compression is nothing more than a mandrel piece thats not a perfect circle. most times in bends, its an oval shape that goes back into a circle.

In which case there isn't really much of a restricting between compression and mandrel bends... correct?

nope, its do you want it to look pretty and uniform, or can you deal witha few oval bends....
as if anyone looks under peoples cars anyway these days...

yea... lol i mean it's a catback that you can't really see much of anyways so who cares? the mandrel bending is just so hyped up like it's really going to gain you power just because it costs more.

so is 2.5 press bending gonna be fine, or should i got back down to 2.25?
If your staying NA your best bet is 2.25.

it's a 2.25" compression bent catback right now (as you can see in my registry picture) with the muffler straight out. My cat comes in tomorrow and I'm having a new catback built tomorrow afternoon. I'm going to try and have them do another bend so the muffler comes out at an upward angle (JDM drift style yo
)

well my exhaust got done today. I am very happy with it. I got a 2.25 compression bent exhaust. the shop did a very nice job and this new setup definately rips. Its quite loud, and im most likely going to add a resonator. Well i just wanted to tell ya how it ended up......
