i was wonder what i can safley rev at with a aftermarket light weight pulley whit out doing any harm to my engine??????
with your car i'd say 8,000 Rpms should be ok
j/k
A lightened crank pulley isn't going to have any relation to how high you can rev. You're only going to be able to rev as high as your rev limiter is going to let you. A crank pulley isn't going to cause damage to the engine by over reving it. What will is the valves crunching into the tops of your pistons.
If your goal is to rev higher than the rev limiter, you'll first need to find out if you'll even be making power over your current limit, and then make further modifications.

very well said. our cars make our power low unlike honda and acura motors. If you wanted to rev high you would first need to build up your head and balance your bottom end, and then get a standalone engine management system or a megasquirt fuel management system, that way you can by pass the stock limiter, and with your modifications bypass it safely

btw I would also suggest a higher lift and longer duration camshaft(s)

redline is what around 6500? I know redline on my 2.2 OHV is 6260 RPM, but DOHC motors can get more revs than OHV.
I was a retard, and now I'm permanently banned.
you want higher rev? get a W41 or a bilmar engine than you'll be set for 7400rpm

hmmm W41 seen spinning 8000... sexy....

What can you rev at ???? Basically at any other stock vehicle out there . LOL

Read, then process the info, think logically, than if you don't have a headache afterwards, post your response
The Police, but it wouldn't be adviced...
If you want a good laugh, i would say mall security!
"Sorry ocifer I had no intention of disrespecting you, but I have to keep the engine in positive manifold pressure at the stop light or it'll stall out and not restart until the torque converter clutch resets.."

mega squirt is definetly the way to go
cheap... and you kill rev and speed limiter with one mod
granted you shouldn't really be going faster than 100mph anyway but if you're trapping real close to the speed cut megasquirt elimination of such will be really handy at the track
you dont need to do the vss mod since MS does its own injection calculations, bypassing the stock ecu's control of the injectors altogether (the best idea ever conceived)
this is one of the next things I'm going to get since I constantly crash into my limiter since my car is still making power up top (head is built see registry for details)
where do you pick up the mega squirt?
ITS ALL FUN IN GAMES TILL SOMEONE GETS SHOT IN THE LEG
destroke the engine, build it and boost it....higher revs...

good method to go, same as stroking an engine would be a good way, but not many take the time to do it. all custom
yeah where do you pick up mega squirt??
Rev it till the pistons come through the hood. Saw that once on a VW Golf. Seeing one or two pistons burst through a fiberglass hood is priceless.
Seriously though, your rev limiter will stop you from over-reving.
If you're talking about just sitting at a stoplight and reving your engine, I only take mine to about 3k rpm. Be nice to your car, it will appreciate it and be nice to you further down the road (say, when it hits the 150K mile mark).
I have to agree rev limiters are your friend, just set them higher. Honestly how many times did you catch your self bouncing off the friggin thing. If you do any auto cross you will definetly want to have one.

has anyone here ever used the mega squirt before?
I haven't used it myself, but my roommate has it in his turbo ecotec
it comes in peices, you have to assemble it (soldering resistors and chip sockets and the like) onto a printed circuit board
you have to know some resistence values of important sensors on your car in order to set it up right.
then, there's no base map so you have to take some time getting the thing set up. Rich (my roommate) had the car running, but like ass... it took about a half hour to get it to idle right and what not
the program is easy to use, its not a gorgeous interface, but it serves its purpose and is easy to learn.
the beauty of the megasquirt is it runs its own injection calculations, so the stock computer is completely removed from the picture. No more rev limiter, no more speed limiter, and an interesting side effect: no more popping when you let the car decelerate in gear. MS deactivates the injectors when at 0% throttle so the car has a nice smooth deceleration and not the popping sound normally associated with jbodies
the only bad thing is you'll get check engine light from the lack of injectors (ms has its own wiring for them)
also, wiring of the MS is a bit on the difficult side... Rich has a shop repair manual (not haynes or chiltons... the dealer issued stuff) for his car with locations of wires and the like I think one of those would come in handy for whatever car you install MS into.
my car makes power beyond my limiter, and I constantly crash into it, so MS is definetly on my to do list
it also has the ability to do spark advancement, and retard but again I'm not THAT educated on it since I've never actually used it on my car before... check out the msefi.com boards and look around there's lots of useful information there
With the tiny cam's in our cars, there's no need to rev any higher then the said limiter...
However... new valve train might require it.
