its cheaper, easier, and more dependable just to modify the engines we already have

^ that or buy the car you want the engine from and trade in the cavy.

the whole point in having a cavalier is for the damn engine. the engine is the heart and soul of the car, if you take the engine out and swap it with a honda motor (for example) its really a honda civic with a cav body. lol.

rice tastes delicious when you butter it up.

personally i dont see what the big deal is....

few facts....

1) old school chevys have been swapping in ford and plymouth motors for years. and vice versa.... cross company motor swaps...nothing new. hell people on this forum have drooled at the ls1 rx7 conversions and many other creations in the other cars forum.

2) someone said he would be powerless. considering the availability of import motor parts....if you know what you are doing, then i doubt he would be any more powerless than the stock versions of ours. it would really boil down to what you wanna see under your hood as most any 4 cylinder engine has potential if you are smart enough to build it good. any engine can be built up. boils down to do you wanna do something that has been done already 40,000 times? or something new?

3) hondas are reliable, when you take care of em. that goes for almost any car.... but why do everyone have to complain about hondas.... if anyone HASNT noticed, cavaliers and hondas are very similar and both economy cars.... everything you can buy for a honda at the local pep boys, you can get for a cavalier or sunfire. theres top of the line products for BOTH companies honda and chevy, but realistically, most of the cheaper teens and early 20;s here who will pay 200$ for neons but complain that a cam shaft costs 200$ or struts cost 350$..... it happens on both sides of the fence people.

4) not to mention there was a toyota cavalier. toyota badges, right hand drive. import.

personally i would say swap in whatever you are smart enough, rich enough to do, that you want.

this is supposed to be a hobby, and sometimes egos should take a backseat cause anytime someone mentions honda here, everyone hates a car off of no realistic reasons besides their egos defense of not being butt hurt....

Honda engine on a j-body is a slap in the face you should post a civic body with a ecotec engine swap at least that would be fast..

i realy want a mitsu enginge thats is what i want th 92 six bolt, is carzy strong bottom end, not say anything else but to pull reliable power on a street car daily driver, on pump gas 92 octane, me and my mechanice have made a few on stock turbos run like crazy, and if i am doing a swap while the motor was out i will be doing a full build up, but really i was just wonderingy if anyone has tried that particular combo, as i wanted to know if there were any big issues they faced and what they might have done, and engine tech comes from everywhere so why cant i go to other motors, something wrong with jap motors, and is so can you say you have no preformance part that a jap designed

yeah i remember when they were the "new found secret of JBO about 3-4 years ago....

everyone wanted to import one, and the few that did everyone sweat, but still people saw a toyota badge on a cavalier and freaked out cause.... "its an import badge on a domestic car"...

still the same petty crap happens to this day for those who dont know and will speak before any learning is done go to a pep boys and ask about toyota cavalier parts and watch their faces
