so i had this idea (just an idea, nothing put into works right now) to get some custom work done on my exhaust. i would want true dual on my 97 z24 cavy....have custom made high-flow headers that have two pipes go into one and then have the two exhaust outlets go behind my doors but in front of my rear wheel well, but covered by a black mesh to sort of hide them. then from those pipes get the rksport dual muffler system and re-do the pipes and tack each muffler/exit from the primary exitting pipe and have these come out the back and look normal. then have some sort of toggle switch in the cabin to open them up and use four exits...can this be done or should i just stop dreaming...?
...anything can be done, my friend with enough creativity and cash. good imagination.

However, it sounds expensive for no real fruit...if you want it just for looks, awesome, it'll look nice...but i wouldnt use this set up for performance. the extra piping/muffler will just add weight and sound (as youll have more exhaust volume in your pipes). youll probably lose significant low end torque as well. but if u have the money to spend for the fab, and your car is more for show, go for it. post pics when done.
...don't hate!.. respect people that have talent, even if it is in something you don't like or understand.
well in the tunel the exhaust travels through , youll be using pipe with a outside diameter is 1 7/8" or smaller unless you want to loose ground clearence
the added weight of the system , to me wouldnt be worth
also the exhaust will travel the path of less resistance , which means 80-90% of the exhaust will flow out the cut out opening when its open
the cost will be alot of $$$ also
No such things as headers or True duals on a inline 4.

unless you get headerS made and two pipes runnign the car.
take a 4-2-1 header....
cut off the converging flange that puts it into a single.
then you can have 2 cylinders per single pipe.
pointless for performance, but some people do car shows and dont care about performance.

I use to work at an exhaust shop, some guy brought a civic in where it was y piped right after the header, it was the dumbest design ever and caused so many problems with rattling, flow, etc. This is the worst exhaust idea I have ever heard. 4cyl true dual will make you loose power, How will the exhast coming out of the same bank on two different sides add power. true duals add power on v style engines but usually only in an efficent matter with an x pipe which crosses the exhaust pulses from the opossing banks to create a vaccum to help scavenge the exhaust. If you do it you will either get made fun of, praised, or confusion. I'm going to guess you'll mainly get numbers 1 and 3.
well...just an idea. better to ask a silly question than to spend money on a silly idea.
