header & o2 sensor

ok i know there are topics about this already and i searched but couldn't find exactly what i was looking for...so here goes i have a 97 cavy 2.2 and i just put a header on it the pace setter one to be exact and of course the o2 sensor is in a different place so the wire had to be extended and it worked for about three weeks but last night my check engine light came on so i went to the dealer and they ran a check and it said the o2 sensor was @!#$ up cause of extending the wire...so me and a buddy at work put a better piece of wire in its place...soldered it and all that and it worked for about half an hour and my check engine light came on again coming home from work...so I was wondering if anyone knows where a fella might be able to buy an aftermarket o2 sensor with a longer wire on it cause i don't think just extending the wire is gonna do it in my case...thanks

i used 18gauge wire for mine and had the light come on once but that was cause both of them got stuck to the header and grounded out. fixed it and then no prob.

provided you do the extension correctly you should have no problems.

1 option is to use a 4 wire heated o2 sensor

2nd option is to shave the o2 bung down , and move more of the o2 in to the exhaust path

also check caspers for a o2 extension

my friends cav has his o2 extended , rather messed up lookin and he gets no codes on his 2.2

and another friends 01 2.4 when his collector gasket leaks , he gets no codes , and when the leak is fixed he gets o2 slow response

our cars are just weird

ok so where might a fella get this special extension cause just extending the wire isn't working at all for me....we re wire it...clear the code and i don't even make it home from work and the engine light comes on...also I was told the the o2 sensor from the 3.8 is the same as the cavy just has a longer wire and can be used...any truth to this...and if not again i would appreciate a name of a place where i can get this extension...thanks guys
