I am about to purchase an extremely cheap 96 cavalier. the gentleman will sell it for $200. he told me that the engine had seized 5 years ago, but that doesn't scare me away. the body is SUPER CHERRY as is the intrior. for the money, i'm not above the effort required to rebuild the engine. my question is, who makes high compression pistons and cam for said 2.2L, and are said parts emissions legal? im not looking to race, but i am loking to have a little fun with a manual FWD. any help or linx or info is greatly appreciated.

you're better off going low compression and boost honestly.

You could go all motor but you would spend a ton of money. If your looking to have minimal gains then do bolt ons. If you want some NICE power...do what Spotabee said and boost it.

let's put it this way ok. you could put 10 grand into a motor to run all motor and only get 250 whp. or you could put 10 grand into it and end up with the most power anyone has ever gotten out of a 95-97 2.2 OHV, which is about 360 whp. it's up to you. boost is more power for the buck.

That is true, but wont you have to spend MAD money to BUILD up the motor to handle the 300+ HP if he had it in the 2.2 OHV while boosted?

that's all well and good. only i dont really want to pull 300+ ponies out of a 2.2L. i'd be perfectly happy at or around 125-175. can anyone reccomend a turbo kit for this particular engine? i'm looking to have the car for a really long time and don't really want to replace pistons every 6 months...
