Ever since installing my WeaponR header on my Ecotec about a year ago, the aluminum heat wrap on my fuel lines has been melting/flaking away. Where it turns to rubber, it is getting kinda soft and looks fatigued a bit. Also seems like something that would heat my fuel up before being injected. Did anybody with the rksport or weaponR header reroute your lines so they weren't so close? I think I'm just paranoid that fuel's gonna spew onto the header and ignite. I know NJ's honda killa and a lot of others are running this header...Any input??
Actually all I did was zip tie it away from my header. Actually my coolant lines were closer to the header and I zip tied them to my fuel line which is farther away from header. This is best picture I could find while at work:

Hope that helps...kind of hard to see but the fuel lines aren't even close to the header.

Hmm, well I know what you mean about the coolant lines I zip tied 'em too cuz they were too close, but is your sheilding coming off of your fuel lines(kind of down and behind the motor a bit). I don't know why, but the lines are like 2 inches away from the header, and are being damaged.
I don't believe so but next time I get a chance (probably later today) I'll look at it.

Try wrapping your header. Should be done anyway.

Get some header wrap and wrap the fuel lines not the pipe. 1" wide heat insulating wrap and special zip ties. You can also tie wrap them back a little thats what i did.

Thanks for the info. I have some d.e.i. wrap for headers, I just had mixed thoughts on it and decided not to use it on the header (plus my hands itched for like 2 days after precutting it for each runner). Wrapping the fuel lines with it is a good idea though. Go

um am i wrong or isnt that impossible..seeing how it takes a flame or "spark" to "ignite" fuel...does your header make sparks??? hehe

yea just pouring gas on a header would not ignite it but if the header was about 1000 degrees more it could

ummmm..i still think it HAS to have a spark....ive never see a fuel ignite from mere heat(of any degree) but that doesnt mean i would still like ot move the fuel lines

I believe fuel could ignite from extreme heat, don't we see enough forests burning merely because of the sun's heat ?

ok....what does a forest have to do with fuel???..two differnt things..and no i dont think forests burn from suns heat it burns cus of carless people...fuel needs SPARK or FLAME to IGNITE...lets just get that straight ok

hey it's all chemistry. read up a bit. every element can burn or boil at a certain temperature. And yes forests ignite just because the wood is extremely dry and the weather in the summer is hot enough.
There is no spark plugs in diesel engines, isn't there ? Why does it ignite then ?

ok your right there is no plug..but there can be anywhere from 14-25:1 compression....alittle higher than a car dont you think....also its just that..diesel not gasoline....in a diesel engine air is highly compressed then the fuel is injected and the compressed air "spontaneously lights" the fuel .....yet still the fact remains that throwing gasoline on an engine will not set it on fire ..feel free to try

Just think of this no spark plugs in a diesel and the fuel lights up no problem with just the heat of compression. Gas will light off with enough heat so why take the chance wrap the fuel lines and move them.
