I have a 95 sunfire gt with the 2.3 and i cant find nothin for it where should i look or can i use parts for the 2.4?
Thanks in advance for everyone that helps
if you have the stock 95 2.3 then you will want a HO motor and a new venture trans. that alone will put you into the 14's. from there you have a great platform for mods. since you have an auto you will be in tough shape since most of the high performance quad4 guys run 5-speeds. actually no HO motor came in a auto car. you will have to swap some wiring, but it is possible. check out the quad4forums for more info.

Sven you totally quarterloafed your computer..
hey coop welcome to the quad family

to answer your question directly ..no..most 2.4 parts wont fit your engine..MOST. as far as the rest of your car its all pretty much the same as the rest...but you are gonna have a harder time upgrading with that auto...but feel free to ask anything .

since my engines looking like crap what engine would be my best bet to swap
as stated earlier i dont know if id go with a swap since you have an auto...HOs just arnt that good mated with an automatic tranny...you could still beef up your engine a bit

no i planned on a 5 spd swap anyhow
wow...now your really looking into some work...i mean..if your gonna swap the tranny..then swap your Lo out for a HO you might as well sale your car and buy a 5 speed one

...but hey its your choice whichever route you wanna go..but once u go 5 speed and change your ecu to match then you have alot more options

ok...not the best info there to help you really....although everyone's on the right track
The HO motor came in grand ams, olds quad 442's and international series calais, beretta GTZ (most common you'll find). That motor you'd like to find in a 92 for best motor/connectivity. Any of them will work, 92 and newer will work best, but 92 has more hp then 93+, but only by 5-10hp. 92 is rated 180hp, 93+is either 175 or 170.
HO's rev higher, so you'll need a 95 2.3 5 speed ECU, or any 2.2 95 GM car (namely J and N bodies) ECU
The transmission, you want 92+ as well, for simplicity reasons, and also improved gearing. You'll have to cut off your auto mount bracket, and weld on one from a 5 speed car (which is one big reason why its better to just buy a 5 speed car)
If you buy a 5 speed car, you don't need ANYTHING except the motor. Pull yours out, drop in the HO, and you're done
www.mantapart.com good supplier for a few things you'll need, but don't send them money, only do orders with them COD. They suck at delivery times sometimes, but their products are good
personally i would skip mantapart altogether and go with www.the-race-shop.com for all your quad needs

and just for the record a pre92 HO quad will work just the same...its the trannys that posed the problems..but lets see if he has the funds to go EITHER route first lol...PERSONALLY i would sell and buy a manuel and save alottt of work and money

the beretta gtz is a ho motor holy @!#$ i already have one then sittin behind my buddys barn but its auto does that mean its not an ho
2nd offf how much better is the 2.3 than the 2.4 because i found a z24 5 spd front clip for $250
that and the motor funds aren't a prob i'm in school for it
a Gtz with an auto transmission is a 3.1L. The Ho only came in a 5spd version.
The 2.4 has a better low end than a 2.3 but the Ho has the best top end.
Gilles
2.3 Ho
hes right....thats one of the reasons a HO is not a good idea on an automatic cus most of its power is from top end..which you wouldnt get fro man auto ( i think i said that right)
but hey if your gonna put all that work and dough into a tranny and engine swap you might as well rebuild the motor while you have it out...maybe even stroke it
