To lighten the hood? You could take off the fireproof material thats under it, thats about it?

cf or fg would be much more safer than ripping apart your hood

Then you want to wait, if you are low on funds and mess something on the hood up, you will have to buy a new hood neway, wait and save your money. Concentrate on taking something out that can be put back in without a lot of hassle.

I understand your low on funds but it's best to do it the right way. Tearing up your hood won't help cause there is nothing to really take off. Buying a fiberglass hood or a carbon fiber hood will help lighten it but your not looking at a ton of weight loss. The difference would be small but if you do a bunch of weight loss things (losing seats, c/f trunk, removing parts under carpet, etc) it will eventually add up and go to your advantage.

Take wieght lightening for what its worth. In extreme quantities, wieght lightening is definately beneficial. But just this last weekend I removed a spare battery and a full large toolbox from my trunk and gained a whopping .02 seconds in the 1/4. 15.84 is lightened, 15.86 was with the battery and toolbox.

Removing insulation and foam deadening, most plastic parts, and whatever else that is light to begin with, will only make your car a loud, annoying rattlebox.

....EXACTLY what shifted said. take for example....me. when i first got into modifying cars, i didnt no SH*T. i still dont know a whole lot, lol...but I began doing what all of the ricers in town were doing...taking out passenger seats, carpet, side paneling, spare tire, etc. it made my car HELLISHLY loud....sounded like a vibrator in a cofee can, very very uncomfortable..and even from my butt dyno, didnt improve accel too much. u can look at my mods, ive learned a lot and gotten a lil more into it...but have slowly but surely "oem"ing my interior back into place (oooh, its fun buying this stuff over again, lemme tell ya..)

..trust me, keep your interior stock, quiet, and use the time and effort you'd spend on ripping your car apart to work 10 extra hours a week. youll have mods in no time.

No the first thing you should do is stop speeding. That would save you tons on money.

BULL.

You can, your just not gonna like it.

A few suggestions.

1) Limit movement of your throttle cable. It wont stop you from speeding, but it will take a hell of alot longer to get up to speed.

2) For the same effect, Bump stop your accelerator pedal.

3) Learn to use cruise control if you have it, If not go to a junk yard, and invest in one.

4) think about how high your insurance payments are now, and how high they will be on your next ticket. That should slow you down.

5) Invest in an aftermarket governer, or i can install one for you.

If all else fails.

Bring your car to an empty field or park, Line up your car with a tree, Pull your emergancy brake, Place a large brick or cinder block on gas pedal, And as you get your ass out of the car, let go of emergancy brake.

No more car, no more speeding, no more insurance payments, no more tickets.

Bad idea. The heat from your engine would make the paint on your hood start to bubble like crazy. Not to mention that material on the underside of the hood is designed to fall in the case of an engine fire and extinguish it. Just a forewarning.

UM ok, since when?

My car didnt come with the material under the hood, and my car is 5 years old, No paint yet has to bubble or for that matter anything else there.

And as for putting out the fire? Does it suppress oxygen some how? Because last time i looked, the bottom of the engine compartment is reletively Free air space. So it would continue to burn.

Yeah, I think you got some bad information.

I removed mine about 2 years ago and put in my magnetic hood inserts - no problem with paint.

And ther's no WAY that thing is putting out any fire.

However, removing it just to lighten the car is pointless - it weighs like an ounce.

If you're gonna rip it out of there, do it because it's UGLY - then buy some of my inserts!
