exhaust question, please help!!!
Tuesday, June 28, 2005 5:57 PM
i just got my magnaflow cat and flowmaster 50 series muffler today. i was told by a reliable sourse that this combo would give me a good deep sound, as he had this on his 4cyl truck, and loves it. my question is this: should i get a resonator or go without one? will it make it BIG difference in the sound, i mean would it reduce the sound THAT much more? i'd rather not get it, but if it gives a better sound i will. help would be GREATLY appreciated as im getting this installed (custom bent piping) on thursday, which means i gotta grab a resonator (if i do get one) tomorrow!

thanks

It depends on your taste. I have a similiar setup with a magnaflow resonator because i didn't like the raspiness of the exhaust. I really like my set up, deep tone most of the time and when i get on it she screams. What size exhaust are you going with?

thanks man. i dont want raspiness either, but the guy said that he doesnt have any with this setup, but i was wondering if it would reduce it even more. im going with 2" piping, cause thats the closet to stock and thats what i want! : )

a resonator is going to change the sound alot.

are you doing exhaust just for sound? wouldn't you want a little more balls behind the go pedal?

take it up to 2.25" piping you won't regret it

im not going for sound at all. thats why i want the quietest setup possible, which is why im going with the 2" piping. : )

if you want the quietest setup possible you are going to want to get the longest resonator that will fit under your car. Or maybe multiple resonators.I have a 40 series flowmaster and mine is loud with a 14" long magnaflow resonator. Think twice about getting a larger exhaust if you are going to get more mods later....you won't regret it

Get 2.25 piping, keep a cat in there, and put in a 30 inch muffler or something and you will be good that will keep it quiet, get some gains. The tone will be deeper, not raspy, and probably very few bees in it
