Whats the diff between a wideband system like innovatives, or just an EGT gauge?

EGT = Exhaust Gas Temperature

Wideband A/F = Air Fuel Ratio Gauge...

The difference is in the definition, one measures the temp of the exhaust gasses, the A/F actually tells the air:fuel ratio.

Wideband A/F and an A/F gauge are two very different things, I would rather have the EGT as well if I were going to use gauges as a tuning medium. Wideband is the ultimate tuning device though, next to a dyno and complete engine monitoring system.

all in all would i be better off getting a wideband system or some software monitoring stuff, All in all the software could do the same thing correct, and i have a laptop already so maybe thats a better bet for me?

Not really, the software doesn't have an EGT gauge (because there is no sensor for it), and the a/f readings are just as erradic as the narrowband gauge. The best thing to use the software for is to watch the fuel trims, which especially nice if you have a software that can map the fuel trims vs. rpm and/or speed.

I may end up going with software and an egt gauge, the software can map that kinda stuff so overall i think that should work for me
