Hey guys I got 01 cavalier auto 4spd, I am just wondering if those cavaliers have alot of problems with engine mounts and tranny mounts, I notice with my cav I got a some play with the engine at idle little engine shake, only got 118,000k on the engine, Tune-up / fuel filter has been done, Oil changed, throttle body has been cleaned, IAC has been cleaned out as well. Just wondering if people had the same kind of deal as well?.
Thanks guys.
The 03 cavy I'm driving around likes to shake in its mount when I'm driving in "gas-conscious" mode. 5th gear at 35-40 mph and I hit a bump... good lord the whole car shakes if I'm on the gas
There are aftermarket motor mount bushings you can purchase that will alleviate this problem (but instead of allowing the motor to vibrate in the mounts, it gets transferred to the chassis)
Just buy the solid lower dogbone mount and upper mount insert, as well as the bushings for your tranny mounts from Karo at
CarCustoms.net and you'll notice a difference in torque.

tranny mounts might be good for Mitch Davis, but rich weeks has a 4 speed auto.. and tranny mounts are not yet for that.
and yes the mounts will transfer the vibes into the car. but they will eventually go away. i hardly notice mine anymore

that's either you've worn out the bushings on the low mount, or you are just used to it. it's far "worse" on the automatics (like mine) than it is with a 5spd.

Or you can use a "cheap" way, use a torque dampener.
All it is, is a solid piece of tubing connecting your engine to either the fire wall, or a structual piece, like the front cross supports.
You can use piping, straps, flat bar etc...

if it works it works but i am not going to necessarily recommend that to anyone.

Hey guys thanks for the reply's, I checked with the local auto parts shop they got the poly upper and lower mounts & tranny mount as well for the 01 cavalier, Before I spend some cash at them, I am gonna get into my friends shop and use his hoist to see whats going on under neath on those mounts.
Thanks again guys.
