idle - coolant

so i have a messed up idle and i think its caused by the coolant sensor thats attached to the coolant reservoir - - - - # 18 in this picture right here

so i want to get a new one....im just making sure that this is the right part on gmpartsdirect.com

it lists it as a coolant recovery tank...and it is only 25 bucks which seems pretty cheap for a tank WITH a sensor in it so i wanted to make sure it was right before i bought it

this is a link to the part number etc

right here

is that the right thing for a 1996 2.4L?

also when i got a new engine put in last year...they put in the green coolant not the orange coolant so its had green in it since

since im getting a new tank then will i be safe switching to the orange coolant which its supposed to have or should i just stick with the green coolant since thats what its had in there... i wouldnt run into any problems only replacing the tank and not the hoses and everything if i flush it out pretty good right?

well the first link just takes you to a list of all the parts for the cooling system...if you click on recover tank then click on the Image button on the right side for 2.4L Eng 1996 Tank, Coolant then it will show you the picture of what i want

Have you check a local junkyard? Sometimes they be a little slow and not know there is a sensor there, so maybe able to get it cheaper.

The sensor in the tank is the level sensor. That only tells you if your low on coolant.Your gonna need the coolant temp sensor.

ive already changed the coolant temp sensor...but i need to change the one in the tank anyways because when i floor it...the low coolant light comes on...then turns off right away

Make sure the sensor is in there properly, if so......
steal one from a junkyard.

haha ...i cant steal one from a junkyard...the sensor is connected to the coolant reservoir..thats why when you want a new sensor you have to buy the whole reservoir
