Thursday, May 19, 2005 11:31 AM
Hey I have the lightweight pulley kit from cavalier connection, I have the 2.2L 2200. I need to know what belt sizes you guys are running on your motors. I have called all the local parts stores and the closest they can get is 59 1/4 compared to the stock 63 5/8 belt for w/o A/C on my car. any help will be much appreciated guys, I wanna get this on by this weekend so I can focus on other parts as well.

I called and left a message at cav.conn. I have also emailed mantapart and they're all acting like what pulley kit, is it ours, what car type, trans, etc. so hopefully they'll email me back with some sort of info. damn I never thought it would be this hard to find a stupid belt.

[QUOTE} DESCRIPTION:

CNC machined from solid aluminum bar stock, this Power Pulley Kit will net you an approximate 7 HP gain. The Crank Pulley is a smaller diameter than stock and the alternator pulley is slightly larger. This combination robs less HP from the engine and delivers more HP to your wheels.

APPLICATIONS:

Fits 2.2L and 2200 Cavalier and Sunfire Engines.

Note: This kit does not include the belt. Simply go to your auto parts store and ask for a belt that is 2 inches shorter than your stock belt.

It seems nobody makes a belt size of 61 5/8" or atleast thats what i've managed to get from the napa package the belt I have on now says. I really need your help guys, I don't feel like waiting for a stupid phone call when I can be out and about doing stuff.

so you are saying you need an even shorter belt because you don't have A/C? Is that what I am gathering?

pretty much, I have the belt ran on my engine for w/o AC. I don't really have a need for it. it's not that hot anyways

don't have, tried, don't have and those are in order. dude I've tried every auto part store in this town of mine, which is sadly to say not much. Next to that when I go to these stores I get a weird look when I ask for a belt thats 2 inches shorter. At Checkers they were like well we can order the replacement belt for your car then compare it to other, No I want a stupid belt that is 2 inches shorter than my stock ( and show them the piece of paper with measurement) yeah they don't know what I'm talking about or something. I hate this town of mine.

tell them to pull the damn book out and look it up by part num/size NOT to look it up by application.

i had to get one with an extra groove on it then cut it off.... not hard at all just get a sharp raxzor too...

I did that too. I asked them to look and compare the sizes, and of course none come close to the same length. only one was 59 1/4, It may fit if I readjust the pulley tensioner but it might be a little to tight. and yes one belt was a 6 rib, I thought about cutting it down but I don't remember the belt size.

stock 61 5/8 belt for w/o A/C is the size you need??

2in shorter than the stock 63 5/8 belt for w/o A/C correct?

if you dont know what size wrap a string around the pullies like the belt will go on and then measure the string and subtract 2 in for the tensioner to hold... thats what size youll need..

theve gotta make one if not find someone that will...

Yeah I've been asking what size belts people have been using for the pullies, but of course no answer. Someone has got to have the 61 5/8 i'm looking for, theres smaller blocks that have them. Are you running with or w/o AC? if with AC does the car have that rpm lag when its on?

Ok I got myself a 61" gatorback V-belt for 15 bucks today, I also just got done trimming the outside rib off so it will fit. I'm gonna put the pullies on tomorrow while doing my oil change and I will get back with the results tomorrow night possibly. thanks guys for your help.

well guys so much for the feedback, except for the belt I got must of been labeled wrong or something. I got all the way down to having both pullies installed and what next? Holy sh!t the belt was way to long, so I tried to use my stock belt which didn't even come close. I finally found a auto store in town that I've heard has a massive amount of belts so I'm hitting that place up tomorrow. But I do have to say the Cav Conn. crank pulley does look way smalled but is still lighter than the stock pulley. alright peace out I'm taking a nap.
