Whats the best way of doing it?
Is there a screen in the filler tank? If thats even the way to do it?
not sure about the years of the screen. you could probably pop off the hose clamp on the tank to the filler neck and pump away...
or if your changing your tired pump (if it still works) you could take off the fuel filter and run a tube from the line to a fuel can and jump the pump wires with a 12v source like a battery or run the KOEF a few hundred times.
the wiring harness under the back seat goes like this
grey__pump +
black__pump -
purple__fuel level +
black / white__fuel level -
______________________
grey / black__?
green__?
orange / black__?
one of these fellas is the +, one is - , one is 5v reference for the tank pressure / evap system, i forget which is which, but a dvom will tell you

CAR GODS MADE THE 1.6 SOHC TO MAKE US 2.2 OHV GUYS FEEL BETTER.
I couldnt siphon mine so i just unhooked my fuel line under the hood and hooked a water hose to it. Then just turned the key off and on (primeing it) til it was empty.

that is one way to do it i suppose. i suppose that leaves a better aftertaste than gasoline.
