I installed the HO manifold w/throttle body and my idle is all messed up. I checked for leaks, and none found. I messed around with the IAC and it had an impact on my idle, but it is still bouncing or reving to high or too low sometimes stalling. Im pretty sure that the IAC is still good. I tried the one off of my old TB and that one is causing more problems ( really high idle). So now Im stuck with playing around with the one off of the 2.3. I have no idea what else could be the problem.
Still sounds like you may have a leak where the mani ports and the intake ports on the head met up.
Reinstall the factory manifold and make sure everything can be put back to normal with no idle issues.
If that's ok, and you're not using a conversion flange or whatever, check to make sure you have a good/decent port match job on your intake manifold. And the gasket you used is also port matched good/decent.

That must be the problem. I didn't match the two center holes up extactly and the bolts dont go all the way in. I guess I just got tired of working on it and slapped it on. I guess I should have done it right the first time. Thanks man.
You the IAC motor for the TB yer using. 2.4tb use the 2.4 iac, 2.3tb use the 2.3 iac. I'm not sure if that helps, but if that's not the combo yer using it should be. Also use the throttle cable brackets for the TB yer using. Make sure the throttle cable isn't holding the butterfly open. I'm just trying to remember issues I had with the HO and that's all I can think of for now.
Yeah,
I remember my first install,
I mean there couldn't not have been more than like 1mm of space. But it as just enough to cause leaks and have my rpms jump all over the place at idle.
And like you said, gotta make sure the bolts are all the way in there.
Good luck,

Well, I took the manifold off and did it right this time. I matched the bolt holes and reinstalled the IM. Now it's running like it should, what a relief. I also went out for a couple runs with the g-tech and knocked 2 seconds off of my previous 1/4 mile time. thanks for the inputs guys.

.02 I can see, maybe even .2, but 2.0 nope.
Hey Stephen,
Is that the HO mani I sold you?
Just realized who was typing the thread.
So it's going well with that stage 2 then eh?

Yeah it is. I want to post a pic of it but forgot how to. It did knock 2 seconds off of my 1/4 mile. It isn't the only mod I have done to the car, so I'm sure that it helped in conjuntion with my other mods. I guess another factor is that a g-tech is not completely accurate, but I have been running consistent times with each run.
so you are running 13's now?
Anyone want to sell me an HO manifold?

oh damn >.> if this thing knocks 2 seconds of my 1/4 holy crap @_@
haha are you absolutely sure it's 2 seconds? not trying to flame or anything I just think 2 seconds is a big jump @_@
Before I installed the manifold, I ran a few 18.14 sec 1/4 mile runs. I know it's not much, but I don't get much traction. Last nite I ran a 16.29 @ 88 mph. I wish I were running 13's. I only did two runs last nite since I was pretty satisfied afterwards so I called it a nite. I can video tape the run to prove it if really necessary. I agree that it is a big jump and don't mind any disbelief since it made me happy. It's all gravy in the navy.
Don't take this the wrong way, but 18.14 with a 2.4L cavvy is just plain and simple bad driving. The 16.29 is about right for one stock, or maybe with a little bit of mods like an intake or something...but damn...The 2.2L auto I raced ran a 17.4.
oh well. good to see you are happy with the mod.

Trust me, I know that it's a bad time especially after all of my mods. I think that alot has to do with having really low tread on my tires and alot of torqe. I ran a low 17 (g-tech 1/4 mile) with the car bone stock shortly after my break-in period. It seemed like after every mod my time would increase. I need to find a better rpm launch range.
lol, through the g-tech in the trash and go to the track......

Well, it's a temporary means of test runs. I do run at the local track but only have an 1/8 mile track. I run low 10's, but that was 2 years ago and with barely any mods.
I'd think they'd understand better if they know what mods you have. Before/after
But that 18+ sec does seem kinda hgh for stock.
